Spent a ton of time cleaning and waxing it yesterday. Put a zx6r shock in today. No cutting either! Only got in a short ride, but man the difference is crazy. Definitely need to get the front done asap. Still trying to decide if I want emulators.

And for anyone that doesn't follow the tag of the week, here's a nice picture from last week. Keep an eye on my flickr if you care to see more in the future.

^ What mod is that?

Is it just pod filters, or more involved?
Looks like it would increase the intake noise nicely.

I removed the STV plates last year and liked it. I decided to get a spare set of throttle bodies and do some mods this winter. I first got rid of the motor, STV shafts, sensor, fast idle, and all the extra metal and hardware to mount all of these. I also did some work inside to remove the slight restriction in the throttle body barrels. (probably pretty close to the TWF bored bodies) I removed half of the throttle shaft and recessed the screws into the plates. I spent some time with a die grinder and files, then some sandpaper before painting.

I put them on my scale before starting to work on them, and the whole assembly (ready to bolt on and ride) was 4lbs 11 oz. Right before I installed them, I checked the weight again and they're now 2lbs 4oz.

The battery is also a considerable weight (as well as size) difference. These changes aren't huge, but when you start adding them up and the higher up from the ground, the effect becomes greater.

The pile of spaghetti along the left side of the frame is pretty much my whole harness. The fuses, ECM, rectifier, and starter relay are all there. There is just a small flat trailer connector to the sub-frame wiring. Un-plug that and remove the 4 screws, and the whole rear of the bike is off. :naughty:

I synched these then took a ride to pick up a package and enjoy some space/vent a little steam. :naughty:

Whatever hp gains you got would be greatly enhanced by putting more free-flowing filters on there. I'd be willing to bet those pods are more restrictive than having the stock airbox and filter on there.

I picked up a tank that was dented and nasty on both sides. My plan (after sawing away the big airbox hump) is to put in a nearly flat bottom to increase fuel capacity. What little (if any) gain in having the factory airbox instead of pods is way less than my smile factor of an extra gallon of fuel and its extended range.

I did something similar with my 1st gen SV. I took a wedge-shaped section out of the underside of the tank and then rewelded it. Then I extended the front mounting points enough to still accommodate using the airbox.

Went to the drag strip last night. Couldn't get my launch down for ****. Ended up with the same numbers as last time.
And my back tire is about bald. So much for the contimotion lasting a long time.

That exhaust looks loud! That's a clean looking bike.
It is a bit too loud. (at least for me) I do like that there's no hanger, or heel marks on it. I bought a system from another member out in Portland, OR. I'll pick it up when I visit my nephews in August. A little bit bigger muffler and hopefully better sounding.

I liked my stock can with the angled cut on it, but I went to this in hopes of some kind of rearward (and maybe lower?) footrests for more comfort. I was thinking rearsets, but my latest thought was to put "highway pegs" on the swingarm. :naughty:

First, I will need to add a small turn-down so I don't cook my right toes.
