Lol and you republicans are talking accountability in comparison to the last Bush administration? I am confused! The problem with the democrats is they are wealthy, but not to the point the can hire teams of lawyers and accountants to eliminate their taxes like McCain, G'Bub et al.

oh man ... that's funny ... of the top 10 wealtiest senators and representatives, you have to go down seven spots before you find a republican.

it's also in interesting point that better than 1 in 4 congressmen are millionaires as compared to the rest of us where that number is less than 1 percent.

I think people are beginning to get the IDEA that the honeymoon with Obama is over.:nana:
Gee, a real messiah wouldn't have to say: "I screwed up." ;D

well, we all know how "your guy" did the last 8 years
Yeah, I voted for him? What of it? I also admitted that I'd made a mistake.

Here, Obama's in for less than two weeks and he feels it necessary to go on TV and say "I screwed up"?!?! Yeah..... what leadership, what tact. I can here the world laughing right now.

except that's not happening. unlike the last guy in the whitehouse, the world overwhelmingly wants the "new guy" to succeed. people are sick of the "holier than thou" "i'm the decider and never wrong" type of attitude that the last administration had.

another bit of irony that i'm seeing from those that opposed the election of b.o. is that prior to his seating in the whitehouse there were the usual rumblings of "elitist" and accusations of "messiah" and all the other b.s. that tried to place the obama on some sort of satirical pedestal and now when the man humbles himself to admit a mistake those same people jump on him for that. partisan politics at it's best i guess.

I have to say, that's a far cry better than never re-evaluating the situation, never looking at new information and seeing if there's a better way to do things. In short, it's far better than "staying the course". I personally prefer a leader who realizes they make a mistake, acknowledges and admits it. That's the only way they can really work to correct it.

The laughing you hear is just the dying echo of the laughing the world has been doing for the last eight years.

Let's talk in 8 years.

Don't get me wrong. Seriously - I WANT the guy to succeed and do everything he's saying about bringing us back up. The world isn't laughing out loud because he hasn't REALLY screwed the pooch yet. But "I screwed up on Daschle"? Good Lord - every leader worth their position, both in business and government has to ask "If he screwed THAT up..... what's next?"

I'm just sayin'.

I don't give a sh!t if you screwed up. Everyone does - and Obama will be no exception. But, simply saying you're sorry doesn't fix anything. It doesn't make it alright.

Don't waste your time - fix it and apologize later, if necessary. You're the leader of the Free World. Act like it.

it only takes a second to admit a mistake. are people are so unaccustomed to a man taking responsibility for his actions that he is shunned when he does so?

did you interpret his statements as him asking if he screwed up?

The comparative grammar is significant.
Obama: "I screwed up."
Bush "Mistakes were made."

I'm disappointed that the Obamaniacs have faltered so badly so soon out of the gate. But I'm very pleased with the level of candor and accountability they've shown.

Hint to the GOP: --> Now is the time to bang hard on "tax simplification.";D

Again - admitting it does nothing. Taking full responsibility does..... nothing. Absolutely nothing. Perhaps it takes people's mind off the error.... "Oh, look - he's not like Bush, he admits he "screwed up." Let's forgive him."

Apologizing isn't leading people. Its pandering. Mr. President..... don't you have better things to do than apologize for something so minor?

I have to admit ... after saying time and time again that Daschel was his man, mistakes or not ... having him finally admit to it is nice.

Let's hope he'll take this pill and apply this lesson to his future appointments.
