Picked up a first gen engine with approx 50,000kms/30,000miles. Looking to “rebuild” it and swap it with my current engine when it decides to go. Although the engine works I’ll be taking everything apart while I’m at it.
Am I missing anything?

- inspection/clean
- replace seals & bearings (journal bearings + wrist pins)
- timing chain + guide inspection
- valve stem bushings + valves
- grind, lap & fit every valve to seat
- hone cylinder walls + new ring sets
- oil pump inspection + compressed air through oil passages
- cam shafts + lifters inspection
- valve return springs inspection
- tightening patterns + torque specs respected
Is this overkill or necessary & am I missing anything?
