Over the weekend I levered on a new back tire. Took off a Shinko 011 with 6515 miles on it and replaced with a fresh one of the same. Really like these tires!:) They last as long or longer than the PR2's did, and handle well until it's time to take them off...unlike the PR2 which got weird toward the end of its' lifespan. Best part is the rear tires cost about $98 delivered at American Motorcycle Tire. http://www.americanmototire.com/catalog/ If you are in the market for tires...give these people a look see....haven't found anyone beating their prices yet.
I've been steering clear of them since their 009 Ravens almost killed me in the rain repeatedly. Do you have a comparison between the two tires?

A few rear tires ago, I tried an 009 Raven just to see how it worked....and compared to the 011 it didn't compare well at all. Got about 1200 miles less wear and never handled as well even when new. Sitting the two tires (same numerical sizes) side by side showed the 011 to be considerably larger and much deeper tread depth.

I've only run the 011's a couple times in the rain, and was being very cautious (normal riding) and didn't have any issues. Only tire I've ever felt was actually dangerous in the wet was the Tomahawk reman I tried a while back. That thing was scary in the wet!! Would break loose with about 1/4 throttle and don't even think about wicking it up around a corner. Even when dry it would easily haze the tire with lots of throttle, next comes the 009 then lastly the 011 which hooks solidly pretty much all the time. The 009 would spin coming out of corners if too much throttle was applied, very controllable but spinning none the less. This might partially account for the lower life.

I know it's easy and somewhat logical to say Shinko's suck because of a bad past encounter with one of their other tires. The ONLY one I'm recommending is the 011 Verge which IMHO stands alone as a fine street touring tire. They're heavier than PR2 Michelins, and when the tread is worn out they have maybe twice the carcass left between road and air.

If you ever get adventurous and can find the 011's for about the same money as the 009's....they're worth a shot. Be prepared for FAST handling!! The 011's are neutral on my bike...even when braking in a corner. The PR2's tried to stand up strongly with braking where the 011's hold their lean with pretty much no tendency to stand. If this sounds like handling you'd enjoy...give them a try.:)

Ram mount on a 2ng Gen SV650 for my S5. I haven't seen any done on a 2ng gen for the stem nut. Took maybe 30 min. Worked out perfectly for a 450 mile road trip. Turns out I don't use it much for the touchscreen so I think I'll sell it. I can control most everything through my sena headset and don't need to see the phone all that much.

If it turns out that my PR3s have flat spots after sitting so long, I may just take the plunge!
