Over the last month, I've cleaned up the PO's awful tail wiring, replaced the invisible half broken taillight, wired up the blinkers in the hotbodies undertail, put on a plate mount that doesn't scream "arrest me" at every cop within a 5 mile radius, replaced the oem relay with one that slows down led blinkers, replaced the rusty bolts on my headlight bracket, and melted some of my cover into the midpipe

I recently finished up servicing all the bearings in the swing arm and linkage; there are 8 of them. After 50K miles, it seemed like a good thing to do.

When it was time to reassemble it, I hadn't gotten the ZX14 shock back from the local suspension guru, so I put it together with the stock shock. Surprisingly, the stock shock felt about like the ZX14 shock. Hmmm.....

I finally met with the suspension guy to get my shock. He said the fluid was dark and very thin; no wonder it felt the same as the stock shock! Suspension tends to get worse slowly over time, so it's not easily noticed.

Anyway, today I swapped out the stock shock for the rebuilt ZX14 shock. I'll try it out tomorrow.

Since the bike was up in the air, I cleaned the wheels. I also put on the new license tab and put the new registration under the seat, with the insurance card.

swapped plates from one orange to another.... technically riding dirty, but they're both mine and nearly identical... so it's ok right? (i just need to test it for a few days before selling it to make sure everything is still kosher)

My phone charger stopped working. So, I took it apart, found that the internal fuse had blown (possibly due to a short during a hail storm). Now in progress: Modifying the charger so that I can wire it more directly on a switched circuit and with an external fuse.

Here's a pic with the fuse removed, and leads added for later additional wiring work to replace the 12-volt socket system:

Now I just need to build a power distribution system with external fuses, and add my grip heaters to that system. As well as running a direct line from battery to headlights with a relay.

:naughty:

My K6 just turned 50K miles, so I thought I would put in some new plugs, sync the TBs and check the TPS adjustment. Got it all done.

Syncing the TBs was super easy. Normally, that's not the case, but I read somewhere here on SVR that you could run gas line from the vacuum ports to the right side of the bike and cap them off there, ready for quick access when it was time to sync. I did that "plumbing" a few months back. So, today I didn't have to fight like heck to pull the vacuum caps off the TBs and try to fiddle with hooking up the (homemade) sync tool to the TB ports. It was sooooooo easy!!

The TPS was perfectly OK, so no adjustment was required.... lucky me!

Guess my next project is to replace the rear tire in a couple of hundred miles. Then, on to SS brake lines!!

I mounted a new brake fluid reservoir, as the old one was the plastic GSXR item and it cracked. I decided to drill/tap the bars. I figure MX bars are way overkill for the street, but I'll keep an eye on it.
