Started the painstaking process of tracing the cause of no headlights, everything else but main beam indicator and headlight flasher work, including fuses and globes. I have 12.2V at the plug but test light doesn't glow. (Battery 12.9V). Resistance/crap connection somewhere. Sigh.

I re-wired the front running lights on the pointy to work as turn signals. I didn't use any solder or wire cutters, either! Crimpers are wonderful. I also spent a good chunk of time wrestling off a seized bar-end slider. I had to cut the stupid bolt and spray a bunch of lube into the bar. That thing was rusted solid.

Discovered that my bike is afflicted with the infamous SV1K thermostat housing problem. I must have aggravated a marginal t-stat gasket when I snugged up the coolant hose clamps the other day. Off to the dealer tomorrow to buy parts. Oh well, it IS three years old and things break... especially things with engines....

went for a spin in NE philly since i had to be there anyway..... then on the way home did a detour and hit some moderate twisties i know. **** it felt gooooood lol

my headlight seems better than i remember it to be at night. def looking forward to those spontaneous midnight twisty runs..... :)

Finished putting it back together, set my sag on the new suspension and then cried as it started raining :(
So I pushed it out and took some pics with my "stunt" rider!

I'll tell you what I tell most people about this but without much detail this time: don't be fooled to believe they are remotely functional.

I've got them in parallel with some flush mounts, which are practically invisible from the front. I figure a little bit of extra blinkys in front couldn't hurt. I"ll consider this month a probationary phase for these extra blinkers.

You've had a bad experience with this mod? If I find it useless, I can re-wire everything back in practically no time. I made my own interconnects, so I didn't have to cut any stock wires.

It's virtually worthless because the running lights are so close to the far brighter headlights, thus rendering them practically invisible.

went for a nice ride, got home did a quick front brake bleed.I thought the lever was a little soft(still had great stopping power) didn't get any bubbles, but i may refill and try again next weekend. Tried out the teflon spray i got at lowes, yuck, i think some people on here swear by it,but it gets everywhere ,i'm gonna stick with a drip on teflon lube. On a side note, i noticed that with my new penske shock i lean more,i used to get like a 3/16 inch "chicken strip".Now ,on the first ride i'm clearly all the way to the edge of the tread. Since turns are done with a combination of leaning and steering ,i've come to the conclusuion that a slightly steeper headtube angle means less steering and more leaning.

Boxed up my stock seat to send it off to Spencer for a seat mod. His services are highly rated on this and other forums. Much cheaper than a new seat from Corbin or Sargent. Won't be able to ride it for a week or so but it will be worth it. Can't wait to get it back and try it out!

Sanded the previous clear coat on my belly pan, then sprayed the next layer of clear. Give it a couple of days to set, then I'll do some final sanding, polishing, waxing, and mount it up on the bike.

Also using this painting process as a test of my method to obtain a nice smooth finish on the seat cowl prior to making a glass mold of it.
