Just thought this would be a cool new topic. If there is already one in existence please let me know so I can delete this one, or a mod can do it. As for me I finished my under tail project and rode the crap out of it.
......................for the past few years i've been using a pair of Trackside hand guards for the winter but since i fitted a new fairing a few months ago they wouldn't fit. With the temp still dropping and my hands starting to freeze on the outside with my heated grips i figure i need to do something before it gets too much colder and stops me from riding. I looked online and found a pair of Handlebar Muffs. Looks simple enough so instead of buying and waiting for them to arrive i went down to Jo-Ann's fabric and just made a pair for cheaper.
Haven't done a test ride yet it because it snowed but i can reach all the controls just fine. I have to run some errands tomorrow so looks like thursday will be the day.
Okay so heres an update. i got to ride in this morning.
Ride time 30 mins
outside temp 30 degs
windchill temp 7 degrees @ 90 for 20 mins
I didn't need to use my heated grips on the ride in and my hands were warmer then my arms, granted i was wearing a long sleeve shirt with Freeze Out pull over and my blue pull over for color. i could access the controls easily and operate throttle, clutch, and brake. I highly recommend if you plan on riding though winter to make some. it costed $30 in materal and i made 2 pair. if you dont have the ability to make some then buy some their totally worth it.
Woah. How'd you manage that? It looks brand new. I love that color scheme on the shock. I ended up with a zx10r se one which is black and grey. Works great, but... no matchy.

Got any specific areas you would recommend? I'm new here and have mostly been riding around Falls Lake or the forest by Duke. It's a wonderful place to live, I've lived in Durham my entire life and love it more ever day. Only a short jaunt to some incredible twisty roads too!

Currently trying to find alternatives to ever using those frame cover screws again!
Depends how far out you want to head. I love going up to Floyd, VA and you can go any direction from there to incredible roads but that is a 1/2 or whole day trip.Got any specific areas you would recommend? I'm new here and have mostly been riding around Falls Lake or the forest by Duke.
Jordan Lake has a bunch of nice roads around it that you can string together as well if you want to stay closer to this area. Theres a sport bike group that meets at the Cruiser gas station on 64 every Saturday that rides around that area.
Heading out west to the Hanging Rock area has some great roads but thats a 1/2 day trip as well.
We should do a local meet up one of these days, theres a bunch of members in the RDU area.
