As for me, I got to tear into new SV #2 today and just decided to go face first into all of the converting I wanted to do:

(left bike is 03S going from track back to street and right bike is new to me 04 track only)

Swapped the wheels from track to a street set, removed Penske, put on an SV1K shock

The dreaded double-shock-swap-transectomy! With only one pair o' jackstands I had to break out the ladder which worked just great. I actually like that method because then the jackstands aren't in the way of the tools!

Next, removed subframes so I can swap the lower 04 onto my 03. I realize most dudes do the opposite and keep the light one on the track bike (holy crap the 03 steel one is substantially heavier), but I'm not too terribly worried about weight. As a short dude, the lower seat on the commuter will be nice.

Then, removed tanks. I'd like the fade orange and matching tail on the street bike. Plus, the silver one will match the primered race plastics just fine.

Lastly, swapped the subframe...and promptly removed the SV1K shock. That thing isn't even close to fitting. It will fit with an 03 subframe and a heavily modified 03 undertray (mine was from a previous GSXR shock install). However, the 04+ didn't stand a chance. I was led astray by that SV shock compatibility sheet. I guess I should have heeded the caution from other places that said it would not fit. Luckily, I had an old stocker in there I can use for the time being.

Nothing much. Just rerouted my fuel overflow line to stock position. Got really tired of people waving me down at red lights to tell me that I have a line hanging. Otherwise it was unimportant. I also did the quick fix for the plastic clutch cover. Thanks a lot to the 1st gen owners on this forum for their pioneering work on the issue. Still gathering parts for fork rebuild. Insurance money from hail damaged truck may actually pay for a Penske 8987 too....fingers crossed!

Did the spring wash, lube, bolt check, tire punp, and oil change. Found one brake light switch wasn't working but some spray cleaner fixed that ( will watch it for a month or two).

Bikes now ready to ride.

- Replaced a broken bar-end mirror (thanks to ebay's psycho-moto for amazing shipping turnaround!)
- installed new Tech Spec C3 tank grips (thanks Blair!)
- finally, finally wired my hotgrips (I installed the grips last season), lots of time spent doing a clean, lasting job, solder/heat shrink and zip ties galore
- took her for a night-time spin!

Replaced clutch lever, lowered front 10mm and put vortex lowering links on (im short lol) I can't wait to take it out tomorrow!

Rode to work for the first ride of the season! Great to be back on it!!!!

Put some new Michelin Pilot 3 on my SV650S.

The bike feels slightly higher (?), but much more comfortable than the battlemax I had before (maybe has to do with them being quite used).

Anyway, great way to warm the tire for the season!

Please keep us up to date on the pilot 3. I am very interested to hear your results.

Swapped from 3.5" riser clipons to dirtybars
