put the new headlight on

i can actually post something in this thread finally... a week ago i raised it back up from the P.O. lowering it.. finally got a stock kickstand and my "LED Relay" off of ebay came in yesterday. installed both.. now no more "gangster lean" when on the kickstand and normal speed blinkers... hurray!

changed k6s oil finally. switched to rotella and hiflo filter (its just a less expensive K&N w/out nut on it). :)

last night i brought 1st gear up to 9k, and then the change into second somehow got back into first, being that im gp shift and had my foot over the shifter, im not sure how... but it wound pretty damn high. got me a bit worried.

Post a pic! Looks like those are the Aztec8 5 3/4 inch duals. I have the same lights, and have had them for the last 5 years. Still loving them.
Yeah, I went with the 5 3/4 lights. The install went very smoothly. I'm liking the light output of these over the stock single headlight. I've done a lot of work on the bike recently and I need to give it a good wash before I start taking some good pics. Anyway, here's a pic after the install.

Nice! Here's my version. Had them on the stock front end for 4 years, then put them on the gsxr front end when I put that last year. I guess this kind of qualifies for this thread, but this pic was taken about a month ago after I moved the lights down and repositioned the xb flyscreen.

Different lens. My left light has burned out a few times, and a couple times the lens cracked due to rocks off the road. Anyway, the last shipment of lights from Scott came with the refractive surface on the bowl of the light, instead of the lens. I put the refractive bowl lights in, then one of them burned out because I squished the ground against the back of the housing with the light plug. So, I put my spare light in, which is the original kind.

Re-lubricated the rear axle to get rid of squeaky sound. It worked.

Yesterday - Installed new shifter and happily chucked the Home Depot/Lowe's special the PO had on there. Shifts like a dream, good deal easier to find neutral, too.

Today - Unstuck the rear caliper's piston, changed the rear brake fluid (that crap looked horrid :() and adjusted the rear brake pedal, which I was reading how to do improperly all this time. (Never went this in depth on a bike before.) It's great to have rear brakes and a pedal that doesn't need to be buried to get 10% braking out of them. ...not that I use the rear brakes much with the engine braking on this ******* bike. Still, pads are low, though. New ones on the way, as I thought that's what the problem originally was. (The circular pin that holds them on, that you uncover with a flat head screw driver, I can't even budge, though. That ******* thing is ON there. Not the flat head screw driver part the allen wrench part.)

meh...it was once...and you didn't stay that high, right? Sounds like you didn't FIRMLY shift into second...I get that sometimes when I'm accelerating hard and use a lazy foot to shift. I've taken mine into the red because of the same thing and had the limiter kick in...no biggie. Been a long time since that's happened though...I make sure I shift with a firm force now...and with GP it's easier cuz you're pushing downward. Have fun!

I reinstalled my carbs which I cleaned up and rebuilt this week. I also took my fuel petcock apart and got it working again.

I knew the carbs were due for a little attention based on the bike's degraded performance lately - but the thing had obviously been a little out of tune ever since I've owned it because it's now a totally different animal. Hell, I feel like I gained 20 horsepower!
