Got it inspected. Coleman's turned me down for the license plate being forward of the rear axle, while MFI passed me but said it was a judgement call as the plate was clearly visible and well illuminated. Advised me to relocate it for next year.

Reading the inspection guidelines, they mention nothing about license plate placement. Oh well, I'll just have to shop it around again next year.

rode to work 3 days in a row...

first day i got stuck in some rain on the way home

second day i rode through the rain in the morning to enjoy the high 70's on the way home

today i enjoyed a gorgeous morning ride followed by a high 80's ride home

washed her tonight, adjusted clutch cable (see if it fixed my difficulty to get neutral), and cleaned/lubed chain

checked chain slack, still good to go...

will check tire pressures tomorrow and prob make another ride to work day

NOTHING! But I did change the oil, filter and spark plug on my DRZ and added red rim stripes. :) Tomorrow is shorty levers and black/red grips.

Next time take it to Lake Ridge Auto Care just north of the intersection of Prince William Pkwy and Lake Ridge Blvd (just down the hill from the Exxon). They've passed my bike 2 times no problem, since I put the LED plate frame on. Coleman's told me they would order me LED plate lights, but they didn't stock them, nor would they pass my bike, because if the plate light is not stamped "DOT," it's a failure.

Lake Ridge Auto does inspections 7 days a week, and when you are there, you're about 1/3 mile from my house. Stop on by! ;D

Sunday I took off the plastics and installed MotoSliders Frame Sliders.

While the plastics were off I changed the oil (Rotella) and Filter (K&N).

I installed the Motosliders Swing Arm Sliders.

And I also adjusted the rear brake lever and light switch.

Rode her to ACE hardware after washing and waxing...hit some kinda dinosaur bug which splattered all over the front and both headlights...I didnt know they had that much inside of them!

Figured out on Saturday (thanks, Jeff!) that the reason my bike is handling all wonky after putting on the new top triple for a bar is that my ignition switch is now binding against the frame--it isn't centered in the mounting hole. I tried grinding away a bit of the material from both the switch body and the neck, but no go. Gonna have to disassemble again and see what's up. As far as I can tell, it isn't straight in the mounting hole when off the bike, yet there's no binding on the mounting bolts.

Weird.

Have you tried enlargening the mounting holes on the ignition? When I first put my bike back together in "lets just get **** working"-mode, I just used 1 screw to totally avoid this. It was such a weird feeling when mine was binding. Felt like I had a 100lb monkey on my tail and it was swinging back and forth.
