well thats why theyre so expensive. theyre trying to get you with the word free, when really theyre adding the labor into the price of the tire and calling the labor free.

Yeah I've already looked into that, the shop wants $69 to mount and ballance a tire. So its chaper when I buy from them. Then they mount and ballance for free.
If I had to guess, the $69 isn't to mount and balance the tire, it's mostly for removing the wheel and then reinstalling it. Watch some videos and do some reading on how to remove your wheels on your own and then just bring the wheels and tires to the shop and have them mount the tire for you. Shouldn't be more than $15-$20 a wheel to mount and balance. If it's more than that find someplace else, or start piecing together your own tire changing equipment, maybe even chip in with a few buddies.

That make sense. I would have no prob removing my rear tire. I'll have to look into this. Thanks for the tip!

Ordered new tires & brake pads for starters..
Realized I need a new rear tire, soon. Im not sure what brand to go with, theres too many threads of what people prefer and what everyone thinks is better. I want a nice sport tourer where I can drive straight for more than 5k miles but can also feel confident while leaning. I like the Pilot Road 2, but its $239 at the local stealer-ship.
Order online! Sometimes you can get a front/rear combo for around $250.
Last time I bought a set of Road 2's, I got the set for $230 total.
Dude, I just did order F&R Pilot Road 2's from motorcycle Superstore for $257 shipped yesterday.

Find a "friend" with mounting equipment locally, pay 'em a 12-pack to get 'em mounted. :)

1. Tore down the tail to figure out how to do a DIY fender eliminator. Holly smokes theres a lot of bolts and things holding that sucker on.

Got it apart, will take it to work to massage some of the parts and also use the heat gun to remove the SV650 stickers.

2. Installed a used set of Pazzo shorty levers. Literally took three minutes. I didnt realize how easy it would be to do. Felt nice to get rid of the broken stock levers that the PO broke when she dropped the bike on both sides.

3. Started to take the N headlight and cover off. Didnt realize there was so much space behind the light. The little gears in my head are now turning....

4. Test fit my new Rapid Transit Recon 19 bag. It fits! I can now ditch my backpack I was using last year unless Im going on longer rides.

Now it needs to stop snowing get the bike un-winterized and start riding!

Put it up on stands, attached the battery tender, installed some JPR shorty levers, changed the oil, and am now scrounging up all the spare parts from other projects (all car bits left over from the years of collecting, gonna sell it off and buy suspension bits for the SV)

Gave it a long awaited and anticipated home out of the elements instead of being stored and worked on in the back yard.
