Just thought this would be a cool new topic. If there is already one in existence please let me know so I can delete this one, or a mod can do it. As for me I finished my under tail project and rode the crap out of it.

Oh...NO!! Not going to ruin it at all.:) The 4.5" stretch will slow the steering a little bit...granted, but it's got LOTS to give there and the benefits I think will be worth it. Most of the horror stories you hear about stretched bikes also involve their being lowered, which is much more serious an offense. I'm actually lifting the rear a little...:) Gaining a bit of suspension travel and increasing the Anti-Squat too with a larger sprocket.

The final wheelbase is going to be very close to a stock 'Busa...which while not exactly a ballerina can be run around corners OK...plus we'll be over 100lbs lighter, so I think the benefits will outweigh the negatives. I get tired of having to be SO careful with the throttle in the lower gears!! This should allow it to rip a bit harder in those impromptu 'stoplight drags' while still maintaining most of the cornering abilities. Promise...I won't screw it up!:)

I contemplated taking it apart piece by piece and parting it out for cash... Then buying a FZ or a new SV.

I hate electrical issues.

From the 'What did you do to your Gladie today' thread. I'm totally trying it.

for the past few years i've been using a pair of Trackside hand guards for the winter but since i fitted a new fairing a few months ago they wouldn't fit. With the temp still dropping and my hands starting to freeze on the outside with my heated grips i figure i need to do something before it gets too much colder and stops me from riding. I looked online and found a pair of Handlebar Muffs. Looks simple enough so instead of buying and waiting for them to arrive i went down to Jo-Ann's fabric and just made a pair for cheaper.

Haven't done a test ride yet it because it snowed but i can reach all the controls just fine. I have to run some errands tomorrow so looks like thursday will be the day.
......................

Okay so heres an update. i got to ride in this morning.

Ride time 30 mins
outside temp 30 degs
windchill temp 7 degrees @ 90 for 20 mins

I didn't need to use my heated grips on the ride in and my hands were warmer then my arms, granted i was wearing a long sleeve shirt with Freeze Out pull over and my blue pull over for color. i could access the controls easily and operate throttle, clutch, and brake. I highly recommend if you plan on riding though winter to make some. it costed $30 in materal and i made 2 pair. if you dont have the ability to make some then buy some their totally worth it.

Installed a new air filter, and added some extensions to the vacuum lines for easy carb syncing. Going to sync them first thing tomorrow, then also a coolant change, fresh spark plugs, and possibly an oil change, depending on how long the other stuff takes.

Then I need to start thinking about what I want to do with the new colour scheme and exhuast...

started my off season tear down and rebuild.

have the new GPtech fairing stay to add, trying to clean up some of the wiring to the gauges because i hate all the excess dangling connectors. Looks like the right answer is to just tie them up out of the way since there isn't much i can trim off.

Biggest undertaking will be coordinating selling off my Superbike front end and acquiring and building/tuning a stock front end with Supersport internals.

I flew home from a dreary rain filled Thanksgiving vacation visiting family in Kansas and arrived home to some pretty nice weather. I took advantage of the weather and adjusted tire pressures then went for a ride around town. I'd almost forgotten how cold 35 degrees feels at 70 MPH. I had several people stop or roll down their windows to express their surprise to see a motorcycle out.

I enjoy this thread so I'll keep it going!

After removing the battery so I could put it on the tender in my room (grr, apartment living sucks) I stripped the left frame cover bolt while reinstalling. That thing felt like cheese when it went. The next few hours were spent running to sears, home depot, etc to get various screw extractor kits. Nothing worked and I ended up having to drill it out. Bought a helicoil kit and ordered a new OEM screw.

That ended up being a $50 mistake that frustrated me for a few hours. Oh, and it was raining the whole time :)

Currently trying to find alternatives to ever using those frame cover screws again!

Currently trying to find alternatives to ever using those frame cover screws again!

When I installed my fuel tank quick release pins, included were a set of self adhesive hook and loop (Velcro-like stuff) disks. Stick half on each side of the the frame, and the others on the side panels. To get under the tank, instead of 6 screws, I have only the 2 for the seat to remove.
