Just thought this would be a cool new topic. If there is already one in existence please let me know so I can delete this one, or a mod can do it. As for me I finished my under tail project and rode the crap out of it.

Cleaned and lubed the chain, rode to Socal Motorcycles to pick up my fork bolt washers, and stopped at The Hat for a BBQ Beef sandwich.

installed my shorty levers and went for a ride! also tried to do a handle bar flip. thought it might work since i have risers on, but alas my thumbs would go smoosh on the tank, at full lock :'(

then while riding i noticed this.... guess its time for a new rear. with this being my first street bike and all, i am not sure whats out there that is good or not. so feel free to throw some names of some good street tires at me.

You won't hear people recommend Shinko's very often, but believe me their 011 Verge is a good tire for a very reasonable price. The others in their lineup...meh. But 011 grip is good and they have a very deep tread for long life. In fact, just looking at my notes the Michelin PR2's only went 5500ish on my SV where the 011 went 6600....and I just ordered a new one for $98.!! Hard to beat the miles/dollar ratio on that tire.:)

Edit: To be totally fair to Michelin, the PR2's (two of them) weren't worn to the cords when replaced...they came off because they were starting to handle funny with an edge where the compounds change that could be felt when leaning over. The Shinko 011 wore very evenly and was able to be taken to near the cords with good handling the whole ride.

Michelin PR3 or PR4 are the best tires out there for everyday riding, bar none. Excellent longevity, wet-weather performance, and enough grip to drag your knee.

For me, I didn't do much. I fixed my rear brake fluid reservoir that I ****** up when I was bleeding the system last week. I didn't quite get the diaphragm back into the right place, so it's been letting air into the system and spilling brake fluid all over my subframe. I also tested out my new Power 2CT front. Changing from 60 to 70 aspect ratio was weird for a few minutes, but it felt right at home on the twisties. And *******, it's got some grip!

Edit- and is it just me, or is your chain rusty?

I've been partial to the Michelin's as well. I currently have a pilot road 3 up front and a 2ct on the back. Stock Dunlops were garbage. My second tires were the old Michelin Pilot sports that grows great but only got 2k miles out of the rear. I then got a set of Pirelli Diablo Stradas that were ok but the back would occasionally break loose coming out of turns. I stick with Michelin now since I get decent mileage out of the newer dual compounds and they grip well.

Not so fast there Matt! The ignition switch still could be the problem, like Tee said the ECU might make a very quick check the instant the switch is turned and never look at it again, so your voltage checks are always much, much later and the switch could be doing OK by then which would be a sneaky thing to find. You've got a new ECU on the way to try, so you'll soon see if that's the right guess.:)

In the meantime, the switch isn't all that hard to remove and inspect...might not be a bad idea to at least look inside for bad solder connections or whatnot, then you could be sure it'll be good for the long run.

Technically last night, but finished up today. got my new tire on. cleaned and waxed the chain, and installed new rear brake pads. hopefully that will take care of the squeaking when I stop.

Also I pulled the front sprocket cover and found a ton of crud built up in it, started pulling it out and noticed a ton of gunked up little o-rings. anybody have a clue what these could be from?

That can only come from a chain gone VERY bad.
