What did you do to your SV today? (mods, farkles, maintenance, etc)

Just thought this would be a cool new topic. If there is already one in existence please let me know so I can delete this one, or a mod can do it. As for me I finished my under tail project and rode the crap out of it.

Did my first ever valve check, all were still within specs. Yay! Much less work that way haha. Installed the new rear sprocket, and cleaned the caked on crap off the hard to reach spots on the rim and swingarm. Took the clutch rod seal out, the rubber was torn and the backing was dented, little wonder why it leaked...

Fitted my SS braided brake and clutch hoses.
Brakes not bad but that brake fluid is messy stuff and being careful not to get it on the paint takes some concentration.
But....that clutch hose is a pain.
Runs down the inside of the frame and is held in place with 4, yes 4 rubber mounts that clip on to brackets all the way from the head stem down to where it comes out from under the frame.
So, best thing I found, lift the tank, remove the airbox and undo all the brackets.
Then rip out the clutch hose, put the brackets back on and then run the hose back through.
The SS hoses are all quite a bit less bulky then oem. Looks heaps better and a test ride after it all gets back together

With the airbox out I checked the STV and found some modification had taken place including the pair valve being disabled but not removed.

That will be the subject of another individual post as I have some questions for the more experience SV1000S modifiers!!!!!

PS
Had a brake bleeding pump and still pain in the butt to bleed them all

Finally got it done though

Took of the rear cowl to examine my grab bar deletes from the outside they match perfectly and I would have never suspected they weren't OEM. But I got a complete grab bar in a box of OEM stuff taken off the bike when I bought it so I'm guessing they were not a cut and hack piece. Went to run an errand and i felt something hit me in the back. Reached around just in time to grab the rear cowl (must not have been fully latched)
before it went over the bridge and into the river. Which brings me to the ? What do most of you do with your helmet when you run into the grocery store to grab a couple of things? Helmet lock on the sv really sucks.

A cluster of small changes.

Spacer blocks for the mirrors. They add an inch and really improve rearward vision.

Rear Set plates to move the pegs up and back.

A magnetic tank bag. A notch in the reinforcing sheet had to be cut so it could drop on the tank enough for the magnets to grab.

They work together. Moving the pegs back seats me better on the bike. The wider mirrors mean I don't have to move my head around as much. (As MUCH. It still gets moved around to see things). The tank bag can be leaned on while reaching for the bars to reduce strain. (While holding a useful amount)

Need some long rides to see how it all works. ;D

The coffee shop buzzed skull is old. :coffee:

Turned it into the fastestest of all SV's... even faster than Onecartel's silly bike :p

my buddy popped a motor on his track bike (noob forgot to check the oil and burned it all out...) a few weeks ago. in order to fix this, i kicked off another partout

over the last couple days (and finishing today):
monday bought a decent shape street 1st gen sv650. already sold tank, forks, calipers/master (so almost broke even including the motor sale to my friend)

pulled the burned out motor out of it and my buddy's track sv650
installed the motor from the street bike into the tracky
today I have to finish up all the routing, carbs, electrical, radiator etc. refill fluids and test ride (should be interesting since not even close to street legal...). hoping everything goes fairly smooth. the only snag i see right now is the exhaust header bolts are fuuuuuuukt so i will at best need to chase the threads, or at worst need to buy a couple new ones.

on the upside i have another partout project as well :) and it has almost paid itself off already

Drove my pickup an hour and a half (~250km round trip) to the dealer in Wpg and picked up some parts for the SV (also did some shopping and watched "Guardians of the Galaxy"). Then I could finally replace my messed up clutch rod and seal, and put my new front sprocket and chain on. Put new spark plugs in, then hooked the fan and rad back up. Noticed one of the throttle cables was loose where it attaches to the carbs, so I adjusted it. Put the battery in and the tank back on and hooked everything up. Fired the bike up for the first time in like a month and it sounds so pretty :) . Gave it a couple shots of carb cleaner for good measure.

Still needs the plastics and seat put back on, an oil change, and the chain adjusted and possibly a link removed.

Only thing I need to get before it is roadworthy is another clip for the master link... because mine disappeared somewhere between here and 1000 miles from here. Which could have been bad, but I got lucky and it wasn't. Definitely going to get a riveting kit when I can afford it.

Free beer

I belong to several forums and wish there was a way to send cold free beer to someone who solved my issue - kind of like a flower delivery service. Maybe we could petition pizza hut to do this as they are losing market share.

Maybe somebody could move this post as I have not figured how to start a new post from tapatalk

Rode it back to the grocery store. It was hot as hell so I didn't wear my jacket (for the first time in years). I was super careful, though...just couldn't bring myself to wear a jacket. It felt great riding in a t-shirt. I can see why other guys do it all the time. I promise I won't make a habit of it.

Sometimes I'm jealous of people who can jump on and ride with no gear, then I remember how much even minor road rash sucks. Know the feeling though.

I went adventure commuting with mine today. Tried to take a favorite twisty to work, only to learn that it isn't totally paved anymore since the flood. It was kind of fun in it's own, slightly terrifying way.

I know first hand. And trust me, I was terrified. I kept thinking, "Anything can happen". Luckily it didn't. I'm usually of the "I'd rather sweat than bleed" school, but this morning I'd just gotten out of the shower, it was already pushing 90-plus, and I figured this once would be OK. Yes, I know, famous last words.

This afternoon while my kiddo was napping, I replaced my speedometer sensor magnet, made some adjustments on the newly installed Competition Werkes fender eliminator/tail plastics, mounted my license plate and wired the license plate light, then installed new aftermarket brake and clutch levers since the previous clutch lever stopped activating the clutch switch and I broke the brake lever by dropping the bike in the driveway a year ago.
I'll be more careful installing the front wheel from now on. Below is a comparison pic of the old and new magnets.
