Added LED marker lights in place of the stock fork reflectors. Just finished the wiring on them tonight and took her for a test run after dark with the new markers. I'm a fan. May end up doing a write-up since I hadn't seen one for this type of mod.

Pulled out my external HDD and gawked at my state side ride. Only a month until I return from the middle east! Very excited, needless to say.

swapped cams :)

My SV had a Penske 8983 installed and all the Traxxion internals, springs, oil, rods, emulators. Also got some loving with geometry setup.

Like a totally new bike.

Just finished fabing up the brackets for mounting the Buell xb flyscreen! Bolted them on and bolted the flyscreen on and it looks great and covers up the mess of wires beautifully. Now I have to unbolt it all and paint it. I'm going with black, but that flyscreen is so big, it's begging for something.... Any suggestions?

I drove it to work with hopes of taking it for an inspection later... and found a coolant leak :( And not an easy fix like tightening a hose clamp :(

Crap!! And just days to go before the rally.

Is it a hose? Or the rad? I hope it's not a very difficult fix, Dan.

It's leaking from the port into the front cylinder.... there's a port screwed to the front cylinder, and there's an oring behind that.
Likely going to have to pull the tank, airbox, and carbs to get to it.
Oh, and drain the coolant too.

It's all good. Should only take an hour or so.

I put on new (small) turn signals all around, to my suprise they are brighter, even though only about 1/4 the size. I also painted my stock mirrors black, they were chrome. Looks much better. I just got it last week so still doing a few minor changes here and there to better suit my taste.

Finished up the wiring for the "N" conversion. Pulled out the soldering iron for the first time in, oh, 10 years. I thought it would come back like riding a bike but nope. It took a few tries to get a decent solder for the turn signal wires.

battery was completely dead
Why?
because I mistakingly left the key turned to "ON" position when storing it in the garage. How come I didn't turn it off or know it was "ON"? Because I had just got back from a trackday and pulled the headlight and rearlight fuses :sbmfacepalm:

In order of actions taken
  • Battery Tender wouldn't work right away, since battery was completely drained (got a blinking redlight)
  • learned that BT's won't charge without a minimum voltage in the battery itself
  • carefully and with paranoia (b/c if I can mess up and have left my lights on, I'm sure I can find a way to mess this up) connected jumper cables from my Car battery to my motorcycle batter (car engine OFF!!!)
  • allowed car battery to stay connected (while OFF!) for about 1min
  • connected the Battery Tender... voila! solid redlight (ie. charging).
  • 10hrs later, Battery tender shows blinking green
