outside or u'll look like a tool.....

and if your more concerned with function than looks, trying tucking your jeans in and moving your feet around. I find that it impedes your range of motion.

just my $0.02

I put my jeans over them... riding boots are usually pretty odd looking, I don't think showing the WHOLE boot improves your appearance... :)

I got caught in a downpour a few years ago. My pants were tucked into my boots. A significant amount of rain water went into the boots and, since they're "waterproof," took a LONG time to dry out.
Pant legs over boots.

Unless you're in leather pants, they go outside the boot. Your pants should also be long enough to not ride up over the top of the boot.

Well, except if you're one of those emo guys wearing girl's skinny jeans. No way your pant leg will fit over the top of the boots...

I wear Joe Rocket textile pants and when I tried tucking my pants in the boots (for warmth) I had a problem with the foot peg feeler catching on the top of my boot when accelerating from a stop. It doesn't sound like a big deal, but if you happen to be turning, it can be very awkward.

Pants over boots (except leathers).

If I don't put my pant legs inside my boots, the boot edges (where they close up) rub my legs raw. Personally, I don't care how it looks...I'm not wearing them for others to approve of.

I cut some socks down near the ankle then put them over uncut socks...makes them longer. I can wear the boots with the legs not tucked when I've long socks to keep the boots from tearing into my legs.

If I don't feel like wearing ultra long socks, the pant legs get tucked in...either way, my legs need to be protected from the boots.

** Looking for high-top type boots that go over the ankle **
