Saw a local craigslist posting for a guy parting out his 96 GSXR 750 but he has a TL1000R front end on it. Would this be on par with the 750 front end of the same vintage? I might be able to get the whole setup for a song but dont want to waste money if its not a substantial upgrade over stock. I looked through the new swap guild but there wasnt too much info on the TL fork.

From what I remember reading on TLZone the '97 TL forks had valves that didn't work very well (major internal changes in '98 ). The newer ones were similar to the GSXR forks of the same vintage, except the TL forks were longer.

I put a 99' TL1000R frontend on my 04 sv650 no bearing changes. It was made for the SV, but I do NOT have a steering lock or stops !! The swap has been working very well for almost a year now and has been halfway around Texas with no problems . By the way you can make almost anything work with a little inginuity, but this one is a no brainer !!!
