I was wondering if i could lob off the round part of this to make it sit lower to the triple.... i'm trying to make mount for my Vapor without having it too far up on the triple and covering the ignition switch. so i was wondering if it would be possible to lob it off and put a cap over it to make it sit lower to the triple. Any ideas/suggestions?

I do not see why it could not be done, but I do not see the advantage in the little extra you will gain and you would lose your prop rod hole for the tank stay.
Is this to replace your existing cluster? If it is maybe look at removal of the cluster and a mount fab'd up for the Vapour. Just a thought, and my two cents.

yeah, I've already removed my oem cluster and i'm trying to find a clean way to mount the vapor. Currently I've got it mounted to my left hand side clip-on and I'm trying to find a more permanent location for it. I don't really care for the way I've seen them attached to the ignition mount. After making a mock mount out of cardboard it appears like i won't need to cut it at all.
I'm not really too worried about the tank prop, I mean it's came in handy before but I can find another way to prop the tank up.

I have a buddy at work, he put one on his KLR. He got a piece of card board and made a template that he liked, then got some 1/8" alum and cut to his template. Then he just fab'd up some brackets to bolt to the old mount looks awesome. If your stock cluster is gone you could do the same and make up a nice little dash...add some lights or whatever and your good to go.
