Haha, all I know is what I see on the videos.
what you probably havent seen are the ones he's taken down when people called him out on incorrect info... and the arguments he put out (usually rather than explain things on merits HOW WE DO IN CLASSES he just recites his riding resume at anyone who questions him)

You underestimate the motorcycle community. This all out motorcycle ban will never happen. There’s a whole lot of us.
You’re kidding, right? This is like the danger posed to firearms owners in the US. How many is ‘a whole lot of us’ compared to how many DON’T own one? I think you underestimate the vastness of that difference…

Yeah there’s a whole lot more of non riders, but many if not most non riders know, or have a loved one who rides. My point still stands, the motorcycle (or firearms for that matter) will not go the way of the 3-wheeler.

dan is preachy, but it's rare that i can find anything blatantly wrong in what he says
I think this is likely why I'm not a fan of his videos. He actually seems quite knowledgeable, but I just don't like getting preached to. A lot of the content just struck me as taking advantage of other people's crash videos and using a sort of template to drive viewership and sell things. He's obviously got a big following, and people love his content. It's not hurting anyone, and it's promoting safety for the most part. Good for him--I'm clearly not the target audience. I've never been a big risk-taker on public roads.

The Max Wrist and other motorcycle hooligan type madness type stuff isn't my cup of tea either though. Just not my lifestyle. Had no idea he was that big of a dirtbag though. Yikes. I came across his channel for the first time only recently when I was researching the Helite GP Air Vest. Don't worry, I didn't use an affiliate link of his to purchase, hah.

I came across a set of videos I really did enjoy recently though. The guy that does "driving 4 answers" (he has a bunch of very good automobile engine explanation vids) recently purchased his first motorcycle at 34. He's made two motorcycle videos in his entire life yet I feel that in the ~60 minutes of video, he's done a better job of explaining the importance of safe and smart decision making while also enjoying yourself than the entire library of most motorcycle channels. I'm only mentioning these videos because he indirectly addresses the issues that this thread is about.

I feel bad as I have an email to respond to from you but you’re getting this first: 1: you don’t give me a used car salesman vibe…but I do get one hell of a used part salesman vibe from ya cue dad joke laugh
2: as a former paramedic (critical care and scene response, woulda flown someday but I’m too heavy) DDFM touts his limited knowledge as gospel and frames cookbook/textbook “medicine” to make himself sound more authoritative/intelligent/dramatic. I would agree that I’ve never seen anything WRONG with his riding information but I’ve nearly vomited when he spouts off like he’s a world renowned trauma surgeon and his medical comments are generally tantamount to the little blurbs at the bottom of a post Ice Road Truckers “History” Channel reality show. Over dramatic horse poo.
He’s a Volly fire whacker who spent 3 months getting his EMT basic.

To put the credentialing in bike terms:
World renowned trauma surgeon = MotoGP rider
GOOD local ER trauma doc = random AMA racer
GOOD Paramedic = Safely Fast Dave from your
local track who you trust
and you know knows his Sh
GOOD EMT - Basic = the dude who stands out
In his first novice track day
MOST EMT basics. = dude who just got his learners permit by passing a written test, buys a Ducati, Motojitsu videos his tires down to 1/2” chicken strips and then talks like he’s f** Rossi and Marquez’s alien genetic combination.

i did the emt school thing for a minute as a college kid. until i realized that it was either going to be very poorly paid or transport (or both lol). also the scope of practice was absurdly low for bls... like you're allowed to do more as a civilian/good samaritan than as an emt ><
pretty much all of "youtube for profit" guys have to push the clout narrative. cause otherwise it will be "why am i listening to this guy". and yeah definitely "tune in next time to see us make a mountain out of a molehill"

Yes but an aging population of motorcycle riders is significant. Average age for all motorcycles is 50, Harley is 55. In 1990 the average age was 32. As a racer I suspect you have seen dwindling participation, as a young person I would see 50+ riders in a C superbike regional race. I bought the SV to downsize from a V-Strom 1000, weight/height and progressing age driving the purchase. I know many riders that wouldn't consider a downsize, preferring to quit, never underestimate a person's ego. My sister has had a Harley Heritage Softail for years, she rides less every year and is contemplating selling, wouldn't consider a sportster Not saying there is an immediate challenge to motorcycles just something to consider.

I am considering an SV to downsize. Beats quitting riding which I never want to do.
But will probably have to do at some age point.

Here is a good Soul. And a Monster. :p

Agreed on the scope of practice. I got in and immediately was like damn, I want my medic or I want out. Being that I didn’t have any other “plan” I went and got my medic. PA has finally adopted the Intermediate now though which is a decent route for some folk and helps services out a lot.
Lmao at the mountain out of a molehill…no joke. Seems that the goal is basically to become a reaction video Rush Limbaugh. Then again it may just be that I’m jealous I didn’t think to buy a camera, hire “tripod” 😂 and just bitch and moan while watching other people’s videos. I could go on ripping for days about MaxWrists canyon road throttle control. Then I could afford some more track time lmao.
