I know, I know...another one, but cmon', they're fun...

Was having lunch yesterday, started talking to a guy who rode up on a CBR 600. His first bike was an SV as well. Just got mine a couple weeks ago. Parted ways after a good discussion.

Later that night saw him on the road...pulled up next to him, flipped up our visors, talked at the light, then raced. I stayed up with him for about four seconds, then his bike launched and he proceeded to kick my a**.

Close to the next light right as we were finishing a cop was at the light, we both slammed on our bikes and pulled up on both sides of the cop. The cop looked at both of us and both of us shrugged our shoulders as we took off separate ways. I guess the cop didn't hear are engines screaming a few blocks back. Whew.

Fun, but def got schooled :)

Just curious...

At about what speed does a super sport 600 (or atleast in your case) start to pull away and cream the SV?

Basically when you say you raced him are you talking triple digit stuff or does the CBR start pulling away much quicker?

I would say at about 60 - 70mph his bike turned into a rocket and exponentially turned me into a scooter. Not sure at the speed he kicked in though. Was paying more attention to what was up ahead. We probably got up to about 110mph before we saw the Po Po around the bend. Definitely a quicky.

I don't know how she couldn't have known unless she just wasn't paying any attention as to what all the racket was behind her, especially as our front ends dipped right as we saw her. There were no other cars on the road. I guess if she couldn't see it she really can't do much. But she gave us both the "eye". I felt like saying, "hi, k, love you, bye".

oh she knew but without that radar handy (on and pointing behind her)what was she going to stand on? I got a freebie like that after letting off as the on-ramp joined the freeway and was head-to-head with a trooper that shot me a look like "I almost had you".

and thanks for letting me know whats in store for me when I go home to ride with a friend who bought a gsxr600 :(

I love my SV......

but my car (Mazdaspeed3) would eat its lunch rolling start from 70 mph

then again, my MS3 has demonstrated a 155 mph top speed

on a closed track of course :)

idk wtf you guys are talking about i took a cbr 600 and a ZX6 on the twisty's finish sat in a parking lot waiting for them. yeah in a strait line they got you but if you have skill in the turns the sv will kick the cbr in the nads.

I was messing with my buddie's 02 GSXR 750 the other day. From a roll 30 MPH or so, he had me by about 5-6 bike lengths at 120 MPH. I was quite impressed than my 650 was thatquick.

The SV really can't compare to the CBR. My '06 600RR would loft the front wheel shifting into second at well over 60mph. I ran -1/+3 gears and it went into hyperspace at 10K.

On the handling front, the CBR steered like it was telepathic and was WAY more stable and confidence inspiring when leaned over.

I can't say much for the SV besides it looking cool and being easy on the wallet.
