Just got my Joe Rocket Blaster 3.0 via Fed Ex today so I took a ride to my local dealer just to poke around, ya know, something to do. I moseyed over to the jacket rack and saw another blaster 3.0 on the rack retailing at 375 dollars. I paid 190 from NewENough.com with out taxes. I think it's cool and all to support your local dealer but all they will be getting from me for now on is a wave as I ride by!

Thats weird. I have a Joe Rocket jacket, but not the $300 one. I got it when I purchased my bike new at the dealer. It was within $10 of an e-mail offer. Throw in shippping and it's a wash. I guess not all dealers are equal......

agreed, dealers will always charg more. If you got a deal at a dealership then you did not find a good deal online. Online you can check hundreds of stores, at the dealership you are locked into one. They mark up to make money.

Weird, sounds like you're describing to a T a dealership here in Manhattan.

As for the price difference, merchendising is probably not their main business focus. They probably don't know what a jacket may be worth, if it is a discontinued style, etc, so they probably just list MSRP.

Dunno that you can really fault them. Most of their money comes from service and bike sales, and gear is just a side thing they lop on just to make the place "complete."

These places make money off all that stuff, this is the only way they stay in business, that and service. they aren't making any money off their bike sales. how many bikes do you think they sell. I went into East Coast cycle center and they still had the Honda 999 naked there that I was considering when I got my SV... among others. Yeah they go, but what, a bike a day? Needless to say they are a bunch of kids and are just trying to make a buck. Everyone has a mortgage to pay. But thank god for newenough.com I guess that what specialty stores are all about.
