i've heard horror stories of the hyosungs paint jobs not lasting long at all,and the crappy welds.they're 80lbs heavier.and what do inverted forks provide other than looks, for the SV?i fidn it hard to believe you'd get a hyo. front end cheaper than you would a used gixx one.

stay away man..just stay away

No you have it all wrong. Im not getting one, im happy with my Sv ( well except the stock seat, feels like a brick was used for padding) I was just wondering about the front forks thats all. Everyone does the gixxer front end, i was looking to do something else, you know stray from the norm. Thats one of the reasons why i bought my first sv ( im on my 3rd one) to stray from the norm. Everyone has a gixxer,R1 etc etc. I like to be different. I was just asking about the front end. If i can fit a TL front end, etc, then i will go that rout. I have no intentions on getting a Hyosung, besides after seeing the 07 Sv1000s all in black at biketoberfest, ive decided thats my next ride ( if i can talk the significant other into it)

got ya! :)

i was just saying, the rest of the bike doesnt seem too good of quality,so id say go an other route.look into the TL front end, theres a thread on that in the 99-02 forum right now i think..you can do ninja front ends as well, from what ive heard,.

Ninja or the TL front end is what im thinking about. But if im able to get the 1K, i wont do anything to it. I just have to give my 6-fiddy to the wife

The big bike dealer here just started selling them. They got one of each(250 & 650) to try using customer test rides and employees. They decided they were good enough to sell. I could see the 250 version taking some sales away from the Ninja. Oh and the 650 has a ceramic muffler

The 250 might make a great bike for a new rider or an in town commuter. They may not hold up to aggressive riding comparos, but hyosung does make decent products. I would consider one of those over a scooter any day.
Stats;
Hyosung GT250 Comet
Engine Size 250cc
Price $ 3,199
Horsepower 30HP
Fuel Economy 72MPG

The GT650 may not hold a candle to our beloved SV, but this little gem looks to me to be a promising ride in the beginner market. Priced Slightly below the ninja 250 and well below other decent makes of little rides. For example, the 250cc big ruckus MSRP is $5,500. The price is well in line with the seriously outdated Honda rebel/Suzuki gz250/nighthawk 250. Of the group i like the styling of the hyosung better and would love to see how the handling stands up to the ninja ;-)

The guy at the dealer that I talked to races in WERA on a GSXR600. So he's not some guy just trying to sell bikes, he knows how to ride. He feels that the 250 is alot better than the Ninja. It has more power and handles better.

yeah, the 250 wouldnt be bad, make a good beginner bike.but i wonder if tis easy to get parts yet?the price is nice,i wonder if they'll do a shootout between the hyo 250 and the ninja 250,that'd be interesting

Did you stop by Hyosung's tent? we walked through it to take a look.
but if the same holds true from the scooter side, chinese makes are very poor quality.
I'm too new to the bike side of things to know...

I agree with being different though! did you roll up at the Hess station? that's where all of the sport bikes were hanging.
I was on my naked* sv-650, one friend on his Ninja 650R and the other on his Honda RC-30 too funny!

*notice the adjective placement before the noun...

It's a shame, you don't know the difference between china and south Korea. Better look at a map.
???? who me?

For those that don't know, Hyosung was once a manufacturer for suzuki for the Asian market and have been selling products for many years. They are South Korean, think democratic allied nation with labor laws. I look at hyosungs as the Hyundai's of motorcycling. Also they have been selling well in Australia for a number of years now.

Good for what they are and seemingly very good for the price. They also come with 2 year warrenties compared to the Japanese standard one year. So yeah, good for what they are, but i wouldn't expect too much ;-)

Also since they serve a region of the world that considers small displacement bikes as everyday transportation, i'm interested in what they have to offer. Especially since the GF will be needing a beginner bike next spring ;-) That may get "borrowed" from time to time.

Funny, i stood not 1 foot from a 2007 GT650R and the welds didnt look shoddy. Plastic was just like the sv's. Front forks looked strong ( some guy my size pressed down on the front end and it barely moved, while i can press down on my Sv's front and almost bottom it out. BTW im 6'4" 236 lbs).
People see hyosung and think cheap. I remember back in the day when Honda ruled the road and when suzuki came to america  you heard cheap.
Yea,....but im a certified aircract weld inspector, for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft.....& believe me....the welds we're SHIT on the one i looked at.
