Hey all, New rider here and need some advice.

my bike has been standing for 2months now and will be standing to the next spring. So once in awhile I go and start it up, and today was the day.
I plugged in the battery and the pump activates and I press the start button, the relay click but the engine just spins a few times and nothing happens.
So I noticed I have this yellow engine light blinking and FI code displaying. I noticed my battery was at 12.4V so I put it back on charger but should I be worried about something else? The bike has been standing on bike stand (rear up) has it messed up the oil levels or something? I did exactly the same things to the bike last year and it worked fine.
I hope it is just the battery and not sparkplugs or something worse

It's possible the battery voltage was too low for the 'easy start' system on your Gen 3 bike to properly kick the engine over. 12.4V is only around 60% to 65% charged, it really needs to be 12.7V with the ignition off. On my previous bike (a 2006) a battery with low voltage would turn the engine over, but not fast enough to actually start the bike.

Charge the battery overnight and try it again. Make sure the battery terminals are clean and tight (use a 10mm spanner, NOT a screwdriver to tighten the terminals).

Sorry, I thought this was a gen2 SV650.

For the gen3 SV, what color are the idiot/fuel lights? Are gen3 FI codes the same as gen2?

I do not like the "easy start" systems. How hard is it to push the starter button? Bikes do not need more complexity; KISS.

In any case, if the only thing was the bike was sitting then most likely just the battery.

Cross-checking the workshop manuals, the FI codes are the same for both Gen 2 and Gen 3 bikes, as far as I could tell. But yes, 'easy start' is an unnecessary complication.

It was the battery, appearently it couldn't activate fully the fuelpump so it made steady blinking yellow engine light, and there was this FI - - - - if i remember correctly. but now with full battery the fuel pump activated "longer" and started smoothely. somehow didn't suspect the battery because in september i went driving between 2 weeks breaks ( alot of raining ) and still started fine

It's low temperatures causing the problem, I had a similar situation on my previous 2006 SV. It started perfect every time when the ambient temperatures were above 10C. Then when temperatures fell to about 5C, the battery suddenly would not turn the starter motor fast enough to fire the engine.

After this, I always make sure to give the battery a charge BEFORE trying to start it, if I have not used the bike for more than a week in winter.

The battery on the SV has to work hard to start the bike in very cold weather because of the high compression, and the two cylinders firing close together.
