I bought this set of guards on ebay:
Installed:
At this point the original sliders were in place. Views from the top showing the comparison of the crash bar vs the sliders:
The mounting bolts are deeply recessed:
Needed this tool:
I subsequently removed the frame sliders. This required m10x1.23x70 and m10x1.25x120 bolts to replace the slider bolts.
I am a bit confused how the right side crash bar extends past the frame slider more than the left side since the length of both the frame sliders is the same and the length of the crash bar sliders is same on both sides. Apparently, the frame is not symetrical.
Aside from the additional protection of these guards, they offer options for highway pegs, lights etc.
