Hi,

My harness has been assualted by the previous owner to the point where it is just easier to swap it out. I looked on fowlers for part numbers but there seems to be different configs or something.

Does anyone know if a harness from 03 or 05 will work without too much modding and is there something I need to look for specifically for my UK model.

Cheers

Are you sure? Because it's a relatively simple loom and not too bad to work on. Which bits have they hacked up? There were some big changes in the EFI from 03/04 to 05, so you'll need to make sure you're getting the appropriate one. Most of the connectors and/or pins you'll want to repair it with are available from Eastern Beaver.

... if you put the fuel pump fuse in, the ignition comes on with no key. No fuse, bike works normally apart from the ignition doing a tach sweep every time.
If the fuel pump control circuit in the ECM fails (sent that a few times), the bike will still run if the fuel pump relay is energized by other means.

The original owner may have hacked the wiring to allow the ignition circuit to power the fuel circuit.

The tach sweep every time, is due to a dead fuel circuit. The fuel fuse is what powers the SV gauge when the key is off. If the SV gauge loses power, which should only happen if the battery is disconnected, then when power is restored, it will do the power-up sweep self-test.
