So I bought the SV1000S I was talking about in this thread:

http://www.svrider.com/forum/showthread.php?t=279665

I am going through all the wiring the PO had added, Grip heater, 12V outlet, iPhone charger, and a hookup for a heater jacket liner.

I rewired the 12V to the front for the charger and added a fuse, also added a switch so I could cut it off easily.
I tossed the iPhone charger as it would only charge if you tweaked the plug towards the front of the phone (Ill add one later that works correctly).
I re-routed the grip heater wiring out of harms way.
I completely eliminated the jacket liner heater hookup, it was run using what seemed like a house cheap extension cord, with no fuse.

Looking at the tank, he removed the OEM fuel line front he tank to the engine, and replaced it with bulk fuel hose, and clamps, the clips for the OEM line are still there, is this hose available anywhere so I can replace the bulk fuel line? It seems kinked with he tank up, probably similar with the tank down. (If you have a part number I would be VERY appreciative!).
Oh, seems its an '03 tank.

Tag lights were not hooked up, so i got some Lite-n-bolts for that...

There is a cap on a nipple right next ot the fuel line output on the tank, that cap is failing, and it seems way. I went to the parts store and got a new cap, and some line in-case that is supposed to be a drain.
Is it supposed to be a drain? or is it capped from the factory?

I eliminated the bar end mirrors, the right one was causing the throttle to bind and it would not snap back to idle position, removed the left one because it was junk anyways.
It has the stock mirror mounts, I just need stock mirrors. If anyone has any, PM me a price shipped to 95401
Same with a silver front fender.

Getting a new rear tire Tuesday, I work 2 doors away, and across the street from a Yamaha/Kawasaki dealer who will work on anything.
http://www.kandbmotorsports.com/

The Suzuki dealership is across town, I USED to work next to them when I bought my '03 SV650s, but not anymore, damm...

As soon as I get all this squared away, Ill be checking the magnets magnets.

Also, do I need a better forum membership to attach pics? ;D

Un-doung my bikes PO's mistakes.....

My new bike, the night I got it home:

After installing my Death Mechanic decals...

Fuel nipple in question, with a temporary makeshift doo-hickey in place to stop any new leakage.

Tucked away grip heater wiring and box.

New 12V power switch:

12V supply, Ill probably change this to mount in the dash similar to the switch.

Tag light, obviously not working....

Do they actually check to see that the canister is present during a smog check? Mine is a CA model (sold in PA of all places) so it had the vapor recovery stuff on it...key word there is 'had'. It did some weird things to the fuel pressure at cruise when it was purging and caused a pressure drop by applying vacuum to the tank.

If this was an E-33 that's been 'de-smogged' please check to make sure the filler cap has been vented or it might choke on long runs. The stock cap can be modified to vent it, but then you lose the tip-over leakage protection so I went with the 49 State cap to be safe.

There should be a 'T' plugged on the right side that went to the cannister purge. The nipples will be above the throttle plates where they get a signal only when they open vs manifold vacuum below. Lots of little things for you to check...won't bog you down at first. Enjoy the new project and we agree that many wives/women just don't understand our love of bikes. It's what makes us boys.:)

There is no EVAP on the bike, there IS PAIR, present and hooked up.
I removed the crappy inop rear turn signals, and i am removing the fronts, PO had replaced all the signals with LEDs and they are almost all burnt out/inop.

Hooked tag lights up (lite&bolts), and have some pics for tomorrow, including some front signals I bought for my 03 SV650s that were STILL sitting in the garage (painting them silver now).

But ill post that in the morning.

Maybe this thread should be moved into the build section? hmmm...

Would suggest you wait and see how the bike performs before jumping in and replacing the evap system. If the gas mileage is OK and it runs fine....leaving sleeping dogs lie comes to mind.:) Mine leaned out some in cruise when the fuel pressure dropped to 30 psi from the normal 43 caused by the tank being put under vacuum by the purging system. When sitting after a run, and with partially filled tank, it would whistle sometimes as the pressures tried to equalize. Now vented like a 49 State version it's nice and quiet.:)

Another thought on the vented cap issue...is vapor release. The 49 State cap controls things when sitting enough that no smell is released so if you keep the bike in garage or living room (me) it won't stink up the place. Doing the backyard venting of the E-33 cap might let it smell a bit.

I've got both CA and 49 State ECU's and have played extensively with each...and they ARE mapped differently, but not massively so. Both were very, very rich at light throttle cruise and needed leaning down by 50% or more with a TEKA to clean them up. Gas mileage improved markedly.:)

Cycle Gear is open today, so Im having them put a new tire on it.

As I had said, the LED signals didnt work, the shoddy rears only lit up 3/12 LEDs when I put 12V to them, and looked like crap, and the tag lights didnt work, werent even hooked up! (Bad pic, sorry):

Image

So I pulled them, routed new wires, and installed Lite-N-Boltz, and verified the tag lights work correctly.

While I was down at Cycle Gear, I picked up some rear signals, bolted THEM on, wired up and BANG! now my signals actually blink, well, the REAR do, the frond kinda crap out....

Image

So I have to re-do, the fronts...

I had some 194 LEDs left over from my Jeep dash swap, bright white, so I put 2 in the front....

For some reason I took pics of my PAIR system (what I could).
Anyone know why the PO would have wrapped the top of it with duct tape?

And finally, some sort of evidence the magnets have been attempted to be looked at...
Uh Oh! they screwed it up a tad...

Ok, got my old account back, hopefully soon admin will merge the 2 accounts.

Question, where does the speedometer get its input from?

My speedo says im going 75, but my GPS shows 68...
This tells me the milage shown on the odometer is way higher then is actually on the bike, so I want to fix this before it gets worse!

17 front with a 40 tooth rear is standard.

Low rpm jerkiness may be caused by a tps sensor in need of an adjustment, or it's possible you are just lugging the motor to much. I typically don't run mine below 3000 rpm and it's happiest at 4000 and above. Do a search and you can find all kinds of info on the tps adjustment.

Yes, I try to keep it over 3K, but I have been to the DMV after hours practicing on their "track" to fine tune my skills, and low RPM is where I need to be...

I will count my rear sprocket, I'm hoping thats my issue...
Thanks for the count!

TPS adjustment is in my near future already.

I can verify that... speedo on most of them reads 8-9% high, and ODO reads within .5% on stock height tires. it's funny... my 1999 VFR800 the Speedo is dead nuts accurate, but the ODO is 5-6% under. when i swap bikes i have to be careful so i remember which is which to stay under the speed limit. :vroom:

When I first got my bike it got an 18T front sprocket which makes the speedometer read pretty darn close to right on...but then the odometer is slow...but of the two, I'd prefer the MPH to be accurate. Mine has a 42T rear sprocket on it now because I put on a 110 link chain wanting to move the axle back as far as possible and then ran out of adjustment. 18/42 is slightly taller than stock, so we're back with 60 showing actually being 56 or so.

Painted that blue front fender silver (when I bought the bike it came with a rattle can of a custom paint match silver, and it matches well!), and with a nice clear coat it looks like it was painted by Suzuki!

Only blemish is from where the front brake cables rubbed on the top...

To these really make a difference keeping your under-tail cleaner?
After a week + of riding, mine is getting pretty grimy....
