I had some time today to work on the bike and things went well. The goal for today was to modify the top triple, and then mount the bars and gauges.

First I cut off part of the ignition mount that we don't need and I laid out where the triple needed to be drilled and did that.

Next step was to make some pieces to add strength. I made a test piece out of card board and then made the aluminum pieces.

Then I made the gauge brackets and bolted everything up for a test fit. Most of the hardware that you see will be replaced with stainless stuff. I still need to paint the brackets and triple but for now this is where we're at.

Yesterday I ordered the new wheel bearings and picked up some JB weld and black paint. I used some JB Weld and "welded" the aluminum blocks into the back of the triple clamp. I bolted them together with some temporary bolts while the JB weld dried.

Today I...

- picked up the bearings (ordered yesterday)
- ordered some wheel seals, front fender hardware and a washer we need
- spoke to Dan about rear wheel, should be able to pick up the wheel tomorrow
- pulled the temp bolts out of the triple clamp, looks good
- also picked up the misc stainless hardware

That's all for now!

Today was success as we got a lot done. There is still lots more to do but for now I will let the pictures speak for themselves.

A special touch for the new clutch lever!

We also got some work done on the rear end. We put the new brake res on with the new line. I also cut off the guard on the stock rearset to expose the nice new parts ;)

That's all for now. My dad and I are very excited to see it all coming together.

Hey all time for another update.
Today we installed the wheels (fresh powdercoat and new bearings) on the bike so we were able to get it off the stands. We also added blue sprocket nuts and motovation fork sliders.

The fender is out being painted right now and with any luck I will get that back this week. The are still lots of little to do's but it's coming together nicely!

Well last Saturday my Dad and I got some more work done. New spark plugs, new air filter, tire pressure, lock tite front rotor bolts and sprocket nuts, set lever angles and so on, nothing major.

Today I ordered the new front brake hose to connect the front master to the Rizoma res. Should have that wed or thur this week.
I also ordered the sensor...

...and picked up the 1/4" rare earth magnets with the cups from Lee Valley.

I am going to call paint on Wednesday to see how the fender is coming along.

Seems to be a good start to the week so let's hope it continues!

Sorry its been a while since the last update. Here it is.

The front end swap is complete with the exception of the speed sensor not working properly. I am still working on that. This weekend we put in new EBC HH pads and bled the brakes. Since the bike is now ridable we took it out and I am pleased to say that my dad is VERY happy with the new front end. He said it is a much bigger difference than he though it would be, both suspension and brakes.

I want to wait to post pics until we get some good shot of the bike so stay tuned for that.

FRONT END SWAP COMPLETE!

So the issue with the speedo sensor was that I had a couple of the magnets backwards. Once that was fixed and after some more tinkering we ended up only needing 4 magnets, not 8. With 8 magnets the speedo showed double the actual speed, so I tried 4 and bingo.
