i recently put a yoshimura rs3 slip on on my 03 sv 650/n and man it sounds like i am running straight headers,im kindda torn wether i like it or not,im coll with the way the acceleration and idle sounds and even when i just nail the gas but man when you let it go is sounds liek a damn harley or some sh*t,is the a snorkel or something i can put in the end of my can to reduce back pressure cus in the back of the yoshi can there are 2 holes for 2 screws to go into, does anyone know what those holes are for.or do you have any ides of a slip on that makes the sv sound like a street bike or is that just the way the v twin will sound with any exhaust???and if so does anyone wanna trade my yoshi for a exhaust that sounds more street than harley????

Do you mean the "blap blap blap", the sort of "popping" sound on deceleration?

Hit the search button above and search for "PAIR valve" or "PAIR mod."

The PAIR valve is an emissions thing that shoots fresh air into the exhaust to ignite the unburned fuel in the exhaust gases. The sound you are hearing is that unburned fuel in your pipe igniting. It's perfectly normal, and causes no problems at all...but if you dont like the sound it makes, you can remove the PAIR valve to get rid of that noise.

I'd think having a harley-esque sound on my SV would be rather nice. Infact thats what shooting for because it sounds meaner, and nothing like that high-pitched whiny noise you get from inline 4s.

yeah, the popping and backfiring. You need to do the PAIR mod. Do a search on this board, it's been talked about in probably a couple hundred threads at least.

maybe its just me but the little poping I hear out of the stock exhaust if I'm just engine breaking sounds "naughty" I like it, I don't think I would mind at all if thats amplified, it actually sounds like theres some "nuts" in that bike rather than a cranky blender ;D

dude, it's been discussed on this board at least a million friggin times.  I would just tell you how to do it, but I havent personally done it and I dont know exactly.  I searched this forum for "PAIR valve" and got these links.  Took less than 5 minutes.  A couple are outside links, but I got them from threads on this forum by doing a search!!!

WOW! a little angry on the "search" topic? Granted it can get a little anoying seeing the same questions over and over but I bet if you take the 1st 4 pages of questions under any title in this forum those questions have been asked again and again....it happens no need to lose your cool.

thanx for the advise, and i thought the the purpose of a forum was to talk to other riders, you know get a repertoir goin you know a littl conversation  goin i mean if all i wanted to do was search the internet i woudl just use google but i prefer talkin to people and maybe since the last time someone posted in one of those 2 or 3 year old posts i have to search for someone who has found an easier way to do it,and the reason i couldnt find it was i was lookin for pairmod,,poor spelling on my part i guess, but i also didnt think postin a request was such a big deal but to some i guess all they want to do is tell you to SEARCH OUR FORUMS ITS BEEN DISCUSSED B4,man some people need to calm down a little but theres no reason for hostility,i only asked once for a link to speed things up a bit and i like to converse with other riders so excuse me if my post annoyed you ghadzilla, ill try not to make conversation with my fellow riders in the future ill just S E A R C H for people to talk to as well,

geeze, dont get your feathers ruffled. take a midol and settle down.

I said twice that it had been discussed many times before, and I even gave you a suggestion of the words to search for.

Yeah, the purpose of the forum IS discussion. We discussed your issue, I told you what I thought the problem was (PAIR valve), and where to go to get the solution (search this forum for PAIR valve). TWICE! ::)

You say you cant find it, so I actually go and do the friggin search FOR you, even show you where to find a FREE service manual, and YOU'RE griping at ME?
