Im just wondering if Im the only one that thinks the SV 650 sounds better with the stock exhaust then an aftermarket? I just like the tone better. Not because its annoying to ride with the noise or anything like that I just think it sounds better. Anyone else feel this way.

Also I have the money to do this its just I dont feel the need too.

What are you kidding?? The stock can makes it sound like a sewing machine doing a zig zag stich thru linen fabric.

I love my Scopion can and all the wonderfull sounds it makes!!

So if you only had it stock for one day, your really didnt take out the snorkel and then just give it time.  Did you hear it from a distance or just riding it.

it's funny that everybody calls it a sewing machine - I used to call mine a farting sewing machine.

You're the only one... Wait... that's not what I wanted to say. Sorry. Pure pressure.

You're NOT the only one. IMO, if the exhaust doen't sound right, you're not at a high enough RPM. Over 6,500 sounds great on mine. Sewing machine? ::) What the heck. Looks? Yeah... it could look much better. But sound... I think mine sounds fine. It seems to get better the more miles I but on it.

I agree. I like the stock exhaust just fine....

Besides, putting an aftermarket piece on the SV would be kind of like the young guys that put the fart can exausts on their Civics and Accords. Doesn't make them go much faster, just makes them louder.

After I took out the restrictor on the stock can I could not be happier. Still not loud but has a little more bass. Perfect.

I did take the snorkel out so it doesnt sound like a modified lawn mower, yes but I love it.
I like mine much better with the restrictor pipe remonved from the can. Nice tone on throttle and still quiet off throttle for getting through the neighborhood. Stealthy and loud enogh for me to hear whats goling on while riding. good.

Stock here too. I like being stelthy. Cops don't look at me as much with it quite. Sounds better than my BMW K75. :D I do have the 1000 snorkle. That sounds great.

For me the basso profundo sound is merely a bonus (but a nice one at that ;D): The increased airflow and throttle response are the true benefits of a good slip on, even without re-jetting....

Wrong. Those 2 things are nothing alike.
The kids that put a fart can on their civics/accords/cavaliers/escorts/etc do it because they THINK it will make their car faster, and they THINK it sounds better, whereas it does nothing for either situation...a 4cyl isnt supposed to sound like someone tearing denim. however, a proper exhaust on a honda sounds good (im talkin full exhaust, with a proper muffler- not these fart cans). Please note the word "proper". Just like a proper exhaust on my audi 4cyl sounds good. Fart can = not good.
However putting an aftermarket slipon or doing a mufflerectomy makes our bikes sound how they are supposed to sound.

I like the stock muffler just fine.  I didn't buy my bike to make noise, and I've never had the desire to spend $$$ just for increased volume.  If I wanted that, I'd just take my earplugs out.
