03' or 05' GSXR 750 shock on 04' SV? Is there a significant change in height between the stock SV and the GSXR 750 shocks for those years? Which one would be best?

not sure where I originally got this table from (might have been somewhere on this board) but here's the info I do have on replacement shocks:

They're both softer sprung than your stock shock.
at 185lbs perhaps you'd be better off with an 03/04 GSXR1000 shock

What are you hoping to get out of the shock swap? Do you want more ride height or leave it stock? Do you want it sprung correctly, or just something better than the stock one, which is way too soft for you?

i'm looking for an easy swap that will improve the stok shock setup. i'm looking to have minimal geometry [height] change due to not having the time/resources for dogbone 'work' my bike is sitting apart at the dealer and they said they will swap the shock for me for free if i can provide one within the next two days. eventually it will be sent to SV race shop, but not right now [budget issues]

out of the posted shocks would you have any sugegstions other than 03-04 GSXR 1000 for a simple replace job? [i understand i have to cut the battery tray on all of them]

sorry to bump this, but i need to find a shock ASAP so i can get it to the dealer before the engine is back in the frame..... i have offers for:
01-03 GSXR600 325.5mm 325# <-- too soft/too low?
05 GSXR750 - is it the same as o4? [332.5mm 408#] if so, wil it do?

any of those worth it or should i just forgo the opportunity to put it in? [otherwise i will not be able to perform the task myself untill the end of winter, but at the same time would not want to waste the time and money on something that does not work well for me @ the moment.]

If you are simply bolting it on, try a 636/ZX10 shock at least it will be about the right spring rate and length. IMO it won't really be all that much better. If you are going in looking to upgrade later with SVRS or other vendor, get a GSXR Showa and deal best you can until its upgraded. Either way get some dog bones and get the bike handling better!

but don't the years of the KAwi shock matter? plus the seem way too tall [according to the chart posted in one of the threads above - so it does need dogbones imidiately - somehting i do not have an option of looking into at the moment,,..

also what is wrong with the GSXR1000 one? why is it not 'sprung correctly]'as opposed to the KAwi? it looks like the spring rate is much heavier than SV one which would make it closer to being sprung for my weight...?

sorry if the Q's appear silly - it's a bit dificult for me to grasp.....

up to 5mm longer is fine.also the one with closest spring rate to stock is good, depending on your weight.
03-04 gsxr 1000 is closest one from that list if you weight around 200#.
if you are light,150# 04 gsxr 750 is closest.
