So, shopping for my first set of replacement pads, I noticed that the fronts are different. Why?

I would guess it's because the front brakes do 70% of the work. To have the front and rear pads wear evenly, the front will need to last much longer than the rear if they were under the same load all the time.

I am referring to the fact that the front Left and front Right are different. Or so the chart says I was looking at earlier..

he's right, I never thought to ask but my '05 has different sized front pads on the left and right when I shopped for brake pads and I'm curious to know too.

What year? The front pads on my 1st gen were the same side to side. rears were different because it's a different caliper on 1st gen.

:) Strange but true, the right, and left front pads are different numbers on all SV650 front calipers, regardless of the year of your bike,

It is a function of the Tokico calipers used, and is common on lots of Suzuki models, as these calipers are a common cross over caliper.

Enjoy the ride, and best regards,
Blair
