And if so are we going to discuss it this season? Last year we had a few discussions pop up here and there, I mean a discussion like a running thread?

This season is going to be interesting, to say the least. Can't wait for Australia! With Alonso back Renault, maybe he and Hamilton will really be able to focus on racing. Kimi will have a kikarse car. Let's see if he can drive it without tearing it up. With the changes at Honda, I'd like to see Barichello back in the pack again.

tifosi ftw! hopefully things don't fall to sh!t with todt being out of the picture this year. what you wanna talk about v9? i'm pretty excited to see who does well with traction control being gone. now if only they'd go back to slicks...

How about the ten-year freeze on engine development? Ten years is a long time. At least the FIA has agreed to reduce this to 5 years and they are working on a new engine formula.

I used to be a fan of Formula 1, but it seems the sport is going in the wrong direction now. It seems that Formula 1 is quickly becoming a spec-racing series. The biggest problem with the series is the cost of engine, chassis, and aerodynamic development. Rather than place bans on development, why don't they take a different approach and limit the budgets of each team?

I've been watching a lot of Australian V8 Supercars lately. In my opinion, that is where NASCAR should be today.

Maybe it is Phillip Island (cant remember which track), it is like a mountain course, those guys are going ballz out! There is a race on today.

Also, yes, I know they dont make 1000hp - I was referencing the 'good old days'.

I'd likely chime in once and a while. Some thoughts for 08? Hamilton likely to win. BMW to win a couple of races and my beloved Ferrari to place second in both title fights. Alonso will have a mediocre season with Reneault.

My ideal F1 ruleset: Slicks, 4 litre engines that are revlimited, a serious reduction of all the winglets and appendages and no traction control. Passing would be much improved as the cars are less reliant on the aero package for grip. Slicks would help with mechanical grip allowing the following car to pull up to the car being over taken. Power would be about the same, but the increase in torque and lack of traction control would put a greater emphasis on driver skill. This should allow more teams to field competitve teams. Anyone remember pre-qualifying and 30+ registered cars for a weekend?

You're missing a poll option. The one that says "I'd much rather watch paint dry or tropical fish sleep than put up with that boring dreck."

Okay, if you want to.

I've never been a fan of the "knock out" qualifying. All it ever did was put the favorites in the race, and leave the other guys out in the cold. Changing Q3 from 15-20 minutes isn't going to make that much difference.

ECUs w/FIA-approved software. In English, it means that Big Brother Guido won't have to hire the neighborhood hacker to get into your computer. But, isn't that an invasion into the realm of trade secrets?

No traction control? Okay w/me. I agree, it will reveal who really knows how to drive. It will also make the races more expensive to the teams since there will be more crashes. Kimi's hard enough on cars as it is. Now, he won't have traction control? OMG.

Being back at Renault, Alonso won't be second fiddle so who/what's he going to blame when he doesn't win? Have heard rumors about what's in his contract. Let's just say he's going to have to perform very well this year if he wants to see any $$.

Oh, where's Massa going to be in the line up this year??

Just so you all know, there is a poll on Speed tv's website asking what the viewers want to see more of. Last time I looked MotoGP was in first by far, F1 was second, and Nascar was near last. I think people are starting to get tired of the nearly constant Nascar and Barret Jackson.

As for F1. I want to see: 5.0L v12 (ohhh the sound), no wings, full slicks, and no electronic controls. See who can drive the car, not which computer can drive. But, man I still love it!
