I wondered which year GSXR would be the easiest or best fitting for a 2003 SV, anyone know? I'd much rather buy a GSXR shock than a 600 Penske shock. Thanks.

Best to bolt on is stock form, or best as a platform for a rebuild? Stock form, depends on your weight. If you're the typical 180lb. American, then probably '03-'04 GSX-R 1000 shock. Rebuild, doesn't matter since it will be valved and sprung correctly for you anyway, any of them will work. If you haven't checked into the rebuilds, here's the FAQ I posted a while back:

So, for a 190lbs. rider, would a 2001-2003 GSX-R 750 shock be inappropriate? Or is there much difference from the 1000?

2003 SV w/ '03 gxr1000 is working great for me. But I'm only a 155 lb weakling.

The spring will be too light for a 190 lbs. rider, it's only 400# as compared to the 480# spring on the '03 Gixxer 1000. Spring can be changed to match the weight, and the Gixxer 750 shock you mentioned should be lengthened for the SV as well, it's 5mm shorter than the stock SV shock. We do all of that as part of our shock upgrade package if you're interested in that. If you just want to bolt one on in stock form, the '03 Gixxer 1000 that Todd mentioned would probably work for you.

I was looking at that gsxr 1000 shock too.
But since I'm only 140 max, I think the 05 gsxr 600 shock will be better. Is that right?
