just crimp a big end on it and screw it right into the battery terminal blocks. Thats the best and safest idea.
Straight to the battery is not "switched", which is what the OP wants.just crimp a big end on it and screw it right into the battery terminal blocks. Thats the best and safest idea.
I've done that, but the GPS charger draws even when off. I'd rather not pull down the battery with phantom load.just crimp a big end on it and screw it right into the battery terminal blocks. Thats the best and safest idea.

Right, there's tons of din connectors under the seat, I was just wondering if there was a live lead in one of those connectors that I could tap into. I guess I will have to do the hard work of going in there with a probe.
don't cut or compromise the wire harness looking for a power source, it only leads to problems in the future
I'm tapping into something under the main seat and running the cig lighter to under the passenger seat. The GPS cord easily reaches the triple clamps. The cell phone battery charger and the GPS charger both draw currnet even when the phone or GPS are not plugged in. That baffles me.Crap, didnt even think about that, woops. Id maybe grab the tag light wire. It's pretty easy to get to and easily spliced into and already under the trunk so then you can place the cig lighter in there and it would be outta the elements maybe. Just a thought, would need a long cord to the GPS though which alot have.
