That means that the part fits the 2003-2007 model years. If they give different part numbers for the different years (likely), then you pick the one for the year of your bike (or the one that includes the year range for your bike). Why when you are looking at parts does it give the options for K3-K7?
By model year:What's the '99 model then?
If you have an 05, that is a "K5," so you need the part that fits the K4 and K5 model years (it is the same part for those two model years). There is a certain part that I am looking at for the 05 650 and it gives 3 options for the part. 1 part number for K3, one part number for K4 and K5, and one more part number for K6 and K7 so do I just guess on which one it is??/
that would be the K -1 :nana:What's the '99 model then?
Seriously... if you have no idea what you're riding... take the vin and call Suzuki and ask them what it means....There is a certain part that I am looking at for the 05 650 and it gives 3 options for the part. 1 part number for K3, one part number for K4 and K5, and one more part number for K6 and K7 so do I just guess on which one it is??/
I do have an 03 sv 1o0o that I am customizing and I am buying a lot of parts for it. I have already bought parts, customized them and then installed them and found out they didn't fit. So I am trying to verify that everything fits before I buy it. I look at a lot of for sale adds in here, other forums and ebay. I thought that people on here would be willing to help out with out being rude. I do appreciate the people who have helped out by answering my question with out questioning why!!!Just out of curiosity, I looked up your older posts and you say that you have a 2003 SV1000 . Why is that you are looking for parts for an 05 650? Maybe you should just come out and say what bike you are buying parts for and a link to what you are looking to buy and someone can help you out. It looks like you have posted in lots of for sale and parts ads, so not sure how you can be so confused about the meaning of "K3, K4....".
I sure hope this isn't directed at me -- I answered your question about three different times, but you still seemed confused, so I offered up a way for you to get a direct answer, but yes, it would require you to tell us "what" you are looking at, but not necessarily "why." Good luck to you, I'm out of this one.I do have an 03 sv 1o0o that I am customizing and I am buying a lot of parts for it. Thanks for the help....This is exactly the type of info that I needed!!!the numbers are references to the VIN number. The 10th digit of the VIN will give you the year of any bike/car/truck. Vehicles made in the 90's had letters (ie: X=99, Y=2000- yes a 2000 vintage bike was made in the 90's). Everything thereafter was given a number indicating the model year (not manufacture year), which combined with the letter "k" is used for parts suppliers to indicate the year of the bike quickly.
Makes you wonder what they'll use for the next decade.
BTW mn99x is probably looking for something related to the seat/subframe since the '03 1000 seems to share those parts with '04+ 650.
As opposed to all of the other responses that basically answered your question? Thanks for the help....This is exactly the type of info that I needed!!!
I believe they are starting at A again. So 2010 = A, 2011 = B, etc...Makes you wonder what they'll use for the next decade.
