My birthday is coming up soon next month, and I'm still at the age where my parents buy me stuff (lucky me :)) My mom wants to get me something bike related, nothing more than $200.

I have come up with a few options.

http://www.alpinestars.com/shop/categories/moto/protection/bionic-race-shield/

http://www.alpinestars.com/shop/categories/moto/protection/smx-bionic-vest/

http://www.alpinestars.com/shop/categories/moto/protection/track-vest/

I list these because I want some more protection for myself and in the future I wish to do some time on the track so I figure it would get plenty use. Are one of these items a good idea? or should i look into somewhere else for added protection? I currently wear an alpine star textile jacket with leather pants, i feel like i would be protected against rash but not much impact.. for the time being Im just going to be doing long weekend rides and occasionally commuting to work. thanks for any input. :ears:

Some Alpinestar jackets have compartments for chest and back protectors. I think the upgrade pieces are less expensive than the stand-alone units you linked. I guess the downside would be that you might be able to use the stand-alone units with a proper track suit if you get one later on.

Get this, you can throw this on under your riding jacket. I am looking at the same system for myself for track and street riding. If you don't have them boots are also a nice gift.

@Sheparddddd Following on from the boots comment. What gear do you have already?
Textile jacket, leather pants (most of the time I (360 zip them). Icon boots (they look like tims) but I am probably buying a different more race inspired boot soon enough.

Forget the A*

Ask for $200 cash and add $70 yourself and get the Spidi Defender Armor with CE certified level-2 back AND chest protector.

I have that option she told me just give her the difference and we can do that. This looks just like the a* one , didn't catch the price though.

Yea mine has the compartments but its sorta annoying taking the armor out and putting it back in. I intend to get a track suit so I feel these might be better options

I just wonder how it would fit/feel under my jacket but definitely looks to provide the most coverage

I oftentimes wear mine under my leather non-armored jacket when its cooler out, fits pretty well! It was made to go under jackets.
