My girlfriend has an '05 SV650. One problem she has with the suspension is when she hits bumpy corners. The front wheel would get a bit jumpy. Also on large potholes the front forks would bottom out. I've adjusted the pre-load on the forks. The first adjustment was a little too much. The front wheel would start bouncing while cornering, (even on smooth road). I backed off the pre-load a little so it would be smoother. So now she is back to having it be a little too bouncy while cornering on poorer quality roads.

I am no suspension expert, but I am thinking that this is a dampening problem and that I should be able to fix some of this by changing the fork oil. Does this sound right?

Set the total sag to 30 to 35mm, rider and bike. Change the oil out to something heavier than stock, something like Bel Ray 15W. This should help the damping quite a bit.
