Emissions sensor since you have a Cali spec bike. Must be reading exhaust gas temp and unburnt fuel level or an O2 sensor??
thanks for the tips. interesting that there's a cat. i'll probably just leave it for the time being. but yeah i was afraid of damaging the o2 sensor behind that so i just left it alone. i think i would remove the o2 sensor before trying to remove the cat. o2 sensors are $$$yup it is one of the 2 cats in the 07+ CA models. the wire leads to an o2 sensor. and no, it doesnt do anything but analyze. doesnt actually use the data to adjust A/F ratio on the fly or anything cool.
you already cut through part of the cat. you can use a screwdriver and a pair of pliers to smash the rest of it out. just be careful not to hit the o2 sensor. and start it up before you mount the new slipon if you do smash it out of there, so you blow all the debris out. and for gawds sake dont breath any of it in!!
Oh. Seems a bit pointless then really...yup it is one of the 2 cats in the 07+ CA models. the wire leads to an o2 sensor. and no, it doesnt do anything but analyze. doesnt actually use the data to adjust A/F ratio on the fly or anything cool.
only california models got the cat and o2 sensor. maybe in the future other states will be blessed with these items.intresting for sure, i dont think my bike had that stuff when i took mine apart.
Classic phrase yes, but I'm afraid it no longer suites. See aparently the dodge viper now somehow utilizes muffler bearings....I dunno what for but it does.muffler bearing holder?
You are DEFINITELY new here.It took 4 posts for someone to correctly identify a catalytic converter?
It always amazes me how many people are willing to give advise when they clearly don't have a clue.
