It's a spanner wrench....Don't know about motorcycle but some nuts have parallel gaps in them. That's where the "tooth" goes and how you screw/uscrew them

The preload adjuster slips into the flattened tube (upper left) which act as the handle, so ya can put some turn on that bad boy.
