Installed the windscreen and dash plastic. Finally done!! Now I look outside and it is raining.

 

After finishing the MSF course yesterday, I finally took mine out for a quick ride. A lot more torque and much better ride than the bikes they use at MSF.

 

Cleaned the bike up with Meguires #34. Checked some bolts. Cleaned and lubed the chain.

 

Yesterday....ordered new fork seals/o-rings/15w oil, and pulled/drained forks. Tonight I replaced the rear brake pads and brake line with a steel braided line. One question on the pads. The Haynes manual says to smear a copper based grease on the back of the pads, and the pins. I didn't have any, and used a small amount of gp grease. Is that a problem?

In an effort to balance aesthetics with visibility, instead of just chucking the gigantic reflectors on the forks and rear of the bike, I replaced them with the amber and red ones:

The amber ones screw right into the same adapter, but need to be cut down a little first.

Installed aTRE and cleaned filter. I hate to do anything to my bike at work cause I have to wait to ride it but at least I got paid for it:headbang:

 

I rode to the beach, and on my way back I stopped at the Suzuki dealer and there was a Gladius there.



The black one looks nice, I sat on it and it feels really comfortable. I asked if that was the first one and the guy said yes. I asked him if the motor is any different, he says its fuel injected. Duh! And the price tag was $6800?!

 

Put the 5.5" Marvic magnesium wheel and my custom non-rotating caliper bracket on the SV. Removed the brake torque arm. Machined the stock chain adjuster plates to take of a bit of weight and make them look a little cooler.

Were you not tempted to change calipers while you were at it? I'll be doing much the same thing once I decide which swingarm to use, but it's an ideal opporunity to switch to a lighter caliper too...

My SV's stuck in the rental truck, so went for a ride with my mom today on her TW200 and 650 VStrom (so it's like an SV). Had fun on both bikes, then took the TW out for my first dirt experience and it was awesome. Totally hooked and wanting a dualsport now.

 

I split renting a garage with my roommates so our bikes don't have to sit in the rain and snow and get played with by drunk college kids for the rest of the school year. My SV smiled at me when I parked it I think.

 

Added 1 more disc to my supertrapp and removed the cap...

 

can't decide on a new paint job. made stripes for it out of vinyl. looks ok. will take some pics when it stops raining.

Still fitting and fabbing.

 

Over the weekend I took the fenders and tank to get painted. Will now be getting the battery checked because I think it's bad and cleaning the whole bike so it'll be shiny for the new paint job.

 

Installed a Talon alarm system in my SV last night. Pretty easy too. Took about an hour and most of that time was taken up with just deciding where to run the wiring, the connections using their sv650 kit made hooking it up super easy.

Weekend projects just going to be oil/filter change and coolant replacement.

 

Rode to work, -5 isn't too cold is it?

Ordered LED's for the gauges and ordered valve cover gaskets for valve check. Trying to decide if I want to do the 2nd Gen cam swap or not.

 

What LED's did you order...my back-light burnt out.

 

Nothing for the bike, but I did receive my hi-viz Tourmaster jacket and mesh pants today. The jacket is huge (as in great). It's frying my retinas just hanging in the podicle.

Correct, same as any other. Kerosene will work fine. I use the cleaner that came with my grunge brush and it works very well and I 've never used anything for lube on my SV except the dupont teflon spray. My chain has 17k miles on it now and it still looks great and the sprocket looks good too.

 

i cleaned /oiled my chain , then gave in and ordered the stealth/D.I.D. combo pack,15/46 on a naked 02 couldn't resist my chain took a beating just sitting in my garage,next year my work cover comes home and things like the chain get a little misting of wd or maybe there's better rust inhibitor,also make room and store the sv further back in the garage ,it might actually make a difference seems like most of the oxidation is towarda the back of the bike.

 

i rode it today! it was around 50 out and partly sunny! headed to the shop and looked for helmets in the parts catalogs. anyone have any experience with a afx fx30 helmet?
