Just thought this would be a cool new topic. If there is already one in existence please let me know so I can delete this one, or a mod can do it. As for me I finished my under tail project and rode the crap out of it.
Did the same. Rode with a good friend, saw a ton of other guys on the road.rode this crap out of it.had a blast, beautifull day out, high 60's low 70's, sun was out, lots of bikers out. rode my favorite little local road.
Eh, I manage a bicycle shop. I mounted a wireless speedo to the fork bottoms and I've got a a few magnet holders left that fit in the rotor buttons. I took it off as I really haven't had a need for it. I know how many miles I've been based on how often I fill up the tank.Vaughan: I know you are doing well without the speedometer, but you might want to look into hooking up a bicycle cyclometer. I've done it on a couple bikes. A little imagination, some zip-ties and maybe some JB Weld, and you are good to go. With the adjustments for wheel/tire circumference, you can get a small, dead-nuts on speedo for about $30 or so.
I had read in another thread, or maybe earlier in this one, you were had transcended the whole speedometer thing. I just thought I would throw it out there. Gotta get the post count up, so people take me seriously;DEh, I manage a bicycle shop. Is that a fixid gear?Nope, sold it. I'm just going to roll with the idiot lights. I'll reconnect the stock gauge plug so if I ever need to read error codes, I can just plug in a stock cluster(that I don't have either) and trouble shoot. I've ridden for ages with no speedo and a few months with no tach; the sound of the motor is all I need!
Also, added some custom dent and scratch work to my 'other bike.' I cleared the first one like a pro... then crashed into the second.

Good eye. It's actually a single speed 29er. Has a cassette body so it will freewheel and disc brakes. I'm still thinking about building a rigid fixie mountain bike. Makes jumping so much more interesting. Is that a fixid gear?
its def a fixed gear but not a 29, those wheels look pretty standard 26Good eye. It's actually a single speed 29er. Has a cassette body so it will freewheel and disc brakes. I'm still thinking about building a rigid fixie mountain bike. Makes jumping so much more interesting.

It's me in the picture and the bike is a 2008 Felt Nine Solo frame. For reference I'm 6'4" 250lb and that's a 21.5" 29er frame. The wheels are Industry Nine SS cassette hubs laced with their .110" aluminum spokes to a DT Swiss TK7.1D 700c rim. I run Maxxis Ardent 29x2.25 tires. I'm pretty sure it's not a fixie--My knees would know. ;Dits def a fixed gear but not a 29, those wheels look pretty standard 26
