I fabbed up some mounts for my Kappa MonoyKey
bags. I had bought the SW-Motech side racks that
Twisted Throttle said would work with my Givi top
rack/case, which did not jive. I sent the side racks
back to Twisted Throttle. I hate having to return
stuff, but if I have to butcher and weld I may as
well start from scratch.

I relocated the turn signals to the license plate
bracket where the reflectors mounted.

Now I just need to make the bottom mounts,
and extend the turn signal wires. I really wanted
the SW-Motech racks to work! Now I'm looking
at it thinking I just saved over $500. Now under $50... :vroom:

Finished up the racks today, and extended the
signal wires. Turned out to be pretty tough!
Not as "pretty" as Sw-Motech, but I'm only
in to this project for about $50. (including the Monokey hardware!)

All done! :vroom:

Next I really want to take my oldest son on a
camping trip on the bike. Only thing is, not sure
where to strap the tent on the bike. I have a web
net, and could secure it to the top case. Now i can
take the top case off when riding solo, but it's really
handy for long trips, and riding 2 up!

Nice!

Can you strap the tent to the top of one of the side cases?

Oh yeah, that's an option! That way I can get to
stuff in the top case along the way. :eek:ccasion14:

I hope that sign in the background isn't foreshadowing anything!!!
Just Halloween! :icon_biggrin:

Well crud. I get to try and figure out what I might have disturbed putting the clutch cable in last night in the dark this weekend. Bike cranked well, but no fire this morning... Waahhh! I really wanted to ride this morning... It's been two weeks! :(

Put Bikemaster Daytona bars on. Holy crap, I should have done this years ago.
They are pretty good, aren't they? Especially for the price.

The slight increase in rise and a better pull-back angle make them feel better than stock.

I put them on back in '06 when I bought the SV.

So much better, especially after getting used to the Versys which sits pretty much straight up and down. Planning to take it out for a nice long ride this weeked, been a while since I have done that with the SV. I almost bought some gold Renthal bars (I love the gold) but decided the BM ones would probably make for a more comfortable ride. Might take a little off each end, but I'm going to ride them at stock width for a bit and then decide.

Spent the past few days thinking about how to easily fit bars to my S. That is, how best to modify an S upper triple to maintain durability. I think I might just get aluminum spacers, pack JB weld around them, then drill through the centers and triple itself. I'd rather the spacers be welded in, but fab shops are rare in my part of georgia.

I did narrow mine down a bit (don't recall the exact amount, it's been a while) but be careful. If you take too much off, the lever mounts will start to run into the curve and you won't have enough room for the switches and grips. I'm right on the edge.
