Hit 38000 miles this Saturday leaving the shop on the way to a KTM test-ride.

So far this year I have over 12k miles. One weekend (3 days) did over 900 miles. One day trip (out cruising mountain twisties with a friend) was over 250 miles. The bike fits me. I have the stock SV gel saddle. Enough stops to stretch and not get cramped. I use the frame sliders as leg rests on long straight stretches. It's, for me, a comfortable touring bike.

A week or so late but I just swapped in a new engine in to my SV. She's now an 03 with the heart of an 06!

Literally made me think of this.

Last saturday night I soldered in the new stator direct to the R/R. Made sure everything was sealed up and gave it a good ride.

Ordered an air filter and o-ring for the temp switch.

Next time touch the solder to the tip of your hot iron to melt some on then touch it to the wire joint. You'll be able to start adding more solder to the joint almost instantly and it'll be a cleaner job too.
Thanks. Ya I need more practice.

Yeah Rob, first you do all that work to make the bike go like stink and now ruin it with this crap?

Oh...NO!! Not going to ruin it at all.:) The 4.5" stretch will slow the steering a little bit...granted, but it's got LOTS to give there and the benefits I think will be worth it. Most of the horror stories you hear about stretched bikes also involve their being lowered, which is much more serious an offense. I'm actually lifting the rear a little...:) Gaining a bit of suspension travel and increasing the Anti-Squat too with a larger sprocket.

The final wheelbase is going to be very close to a stock 'Busa...which while not exactly a ballerina can be run around corners OK...plus we'll be over 100lbs lighter, so I think the benefits will outweigh the negatives. I get tired of having to be SO careful with the throttle in the lower gears!! This should allow it to rip a bit harder in those impromptu 'stoplight drags' while still maintaining most of the cornering abilities. Promise...I won't screw it up!:)

I contemplated taking it apart piece by piece and parting it out for cash... Then buying a FZ or a new SV.

I hate electrical issues.

Got all excited to install my turn signal relay, only to realize that I messed up and ordered a 3-prong one instead of a 7-prong. *Sigh* anyone need a 3-prong relay? If so, PM me.

I bought this one a while back. Works perfectly and would still work with non-leds.
