Oh, and yesterday I found out that I'm still fighting an intermittent ignition problem. Sorry, Mad8, but it looks like that regulator you sent might also have had issues. New regulator on order. Let me know how much shipping and value of part was and I'll PP you some $$.

Pulled plugs to check them for carbon, did a fuel pump volume test.
Quart jar, 3 key-on squirts:

Figured out an easy way to hold the radiator out of the way:

Just took mine for a ride today. It took me to a river close by my house and I loved every minute of it. Is the bike perfect? Hell no! Is it fun though and very cheap (1000 dollar bike)!

The fuel volume looks OK...so that's good. Of course...it IS an intermittent problem so this could be fooling you...but that's not likely as the pumps are pretty darn reliable...unless they get hot.

Do you have a spare TPS laying around? When they get flaky the problems can be really tough to pinpoint and we've had a couple where they tested fine every time but ended up being the gremlin...and the only real way to be sure is to 'replace with known good part'. That's straight from the GM car diagnostic chart: Check voltage at xxx, if over 12...replace Y with known good part. That's great when you have another one laying around, or a spare machine you can rob for diagnostic purposes.

Have you got a spare set of TB's? The first thing I bought for mine came after scouring Ebay for a few weeks until a nice set came up cheap...snagged!:) That way you've got the TPS and injectors to substitute down the road for troubleshooting. Do you have another thread on your running problem? If so...see you there.

I put a brand new regulator in it, and am waiting to see if the issue occurs again. If it doesn't I'll start looking for the next culprit. But so far so good. Thanks for the additional ideas! I do have another thread over in the 03+ 650 maintenance forum.

Filled the tank and put in stabilizer for the winter and took a short ride to get the stabilizer in the carbs

Changed plugs on Saturday, hoping this clears up my intermittent poor running issue... If not it'll be time to try something else...

Yeah, I thought so too. A little black, but not super coated or anything.
