Fixed my fast-flash issue with a new relay and put my Hammergrips on the bike, both came in the mail today. Started to rain as soon as I went outside so no obligatory picture but if you don't know what Hammergrips look like, just buy a set and you can look at them every day.

I took my first extended ride this morning after taking my MSF course, getting my endorsement, getting a bike and finally my plate yesterday. I'm 58 years old and had never ridden a bike before all this. Had been riding in my neighborhood until the plate. Today's trip basically empty long open roads, got up to 75 MPH. Great experience. When I pulled into my neighborhood, I figured that I would practice my stops and turns, etc. Not sure what happened other than making the turn wide....went into the grass and accelerated!! Yes, accelerated! ****, I went down on the left side and snapped my shift lever. I had gear on so all is good. By hand put bike in 1st and limped home. I placed a bolt in my gear shift lever until my new one comes in the mail. That's what I did today.

I've been doing slow and short cruises through neighborhoods and parking lots working on my skills for the past couple weeks. Today I took the bike out for my first real ride, hit busier roads with traffic, some nice rural twisties, and hit a new top speed of 60mph. I put about 70 miles on today which brings my total distance with my SV at about 100 miles and I'm feeling very good with riding.

I had one incident with my ride where a stoplight changed right in front of me and I didn't want to blow through it so I had to make a quick stop from ~45mph and I locked up the front brakes. I didn't even think about it, but I followed the MSF training of letting up on them and re-braking but easier on them and I stopped okay. It was a little frightening, but the rest of my ride going well made up for it. I had so much fun out there today, I just want to get back out there again!

Good for you, I like to hear that the training is paying off and you're practicing on your own.
Yeah, I've been going to an empty parking lot plenty and practising panic stops, Swerving, and other various drills from the MSF course so that when I need the skills it's simply muscle memory of good habits. I'm also taking notes after my rides of things that went well or that didn't feel right so that I can pinpoint where I need practice.

Installed my new Danmoto texalium slip on! According to dAnmoto texalium is similar to carbon fiber but should withstand the vibrations of a twin better. So far I'm very happy. Welds are solid, pipe fitment is secure, the bike sounds mean now!

I weighed the exhaust and I dropped about 10lbs after removing the Zx6 stock exhaust I had on there!

Also ordered a matching tail fairing for the bike.
