Since it might possibly rain (or at least sprinkle) for the first time in about 9 months, I decided to set up my SV for winter riding comfort. Because, well, the temperatures might drop into the low 50s.

1966 vintage Bates 700A touring fairing. Now I scoff at the cold, and flip the bird to threatening skies.

Hey, if it was good enough for an R60/2, it's good enough for my SV!

Not exactly today, but a couple of nights ago I got a replacement right rear seat fairing in to replace the damaged one that came on the bike. This was the last thing still remaining on the bike that looked ugly.

When I went to install it, I saw that I had easy access to the rear brake reservoir and decided to bleed the rear brake. I also had easy access to a spot of rust on the seat subframe that I had bee meaning to take care of so I hit that with some rust converter. More work than I had set out to do that night, but knocked a couple things off my todo list.

Ah man, that sucks. Any considerable damage to the bike or yourself?

why don't we just call it SVOTY, but it up in the top banner and scare every poor visitor away?

ugh, that sucks. well at least you're fine!
did you get insurance info etc? those oem parts prices are through the roof! (and you're not required to repair...)
The guy who hit me is actually a close friend who was following me at the time. He's also a rider himself. He feels terrible about it. I told him I'll let him know if I find any damage that I missed on my roadside inspection. I have no doubts that he'll take responsibility and pay if I find more damage.

Cleaned it, lubed and adjusted the chain, adjusted the TPS, lubed the kickstand, and am now tearing my hair out trying to figure out why my low beams only work when they feel like it.

doh, nothing sucks as much as friends rear-ending you.

/no that was not me being dirty, mind went to gutter after I typed it... :eek:ccasion14:

I put Hippo Hands on a couple of days ago so I could ride for a couple of days while the weather is "nice". We're going to have highs in the low 20's for most of next week, so riding is over for a while.

Oh yea, I washed the bike after the rides to get the salt off. Winter: it sucks.
