Just thought this would be a cool new topic. If there is already one in existence please let me know so I can delete this one, or a mod can do it. As for me I finished my under tail project and rode the crap out of it.

I rode mine in to work today and made it all messy.... ah well... I had to mess up the pristine shine of my new M4 some time... Got my Sliders on finally just in time for a chinook.... it was dry this morning... but the sun of the day melted the crap on the sides of the roads and made for a moist and muddy ride home

At least it is not as bad as my car yet :p

Got my new seat, rear seat cover, tank pad and rear set riser plates installed. I also ordered the 08' tire hugger color matched, but it's made for the ABS model so the mounting hole on the exhaust side is off by an inch. They don't make one for the non ABS model so I am going to have to drill a new hole in the part. Now that it's looking good time to start with performance upgrades, but that will have to wait until the 1 year warrenty is over.

Put the battery back in and started her for the first time since late Nov.(I missed that sound) Gave her a good coat of Turtle Wax Ice paste wax.

is it spring yet?

removed a couple of warning stickers on the faring and gas tank. polished her up. showed her off to some friends. friends sat on her.

then i went to work and ordered some accessories for her, blue reservoir caps, blue oil plug, and a dark smoke windscreen. should be here in a month because there is a $500 minimum limit for our dealer for some reason.

Yesterday, I put on one of those nifty heat shields, I had seen on some of the other member's bikes.

If anyone else is as clueless as I was about where to get them, CBXman, seems to be the place. The price was pretty good, and it showed up in two days.

I also unplugged the battery tender. I'm leaving today for three weeks, and although I'm 99.99999% sure that there wouldn't be a problem if I left it plugged in, I just didn't want that last 0.00001% muddling about in my brain.

This is just what I need to hide the ugly seam between my pipe and header. Thanks!

My opinion is keep the "S"
I think it would look too plain w/out it

Started it up for the first time since the beginning of December. Let it run for about a half hour then topped off the gas, took the battery back out and put it on the tender. Also put on my freshly painted sprocket cover that I cut out the vents like so many others before me.

Man, I miss that sound! :vroom:

I attempted to change the oil in the newish SV that I bought before Xmas. One mangled filter and a sliced up thumb on Mr. tlc later and the filter is STILL on the bike. :angry7:

When all else fails I stick a screw driver into the filter and and twist it off.

They make a numerous oil filter wrench's I have had luck with them in the past...

WOW! Dude must have over tighted it when putting it on!

Try an auto parts store I am not sure if Lowe's or Home Depot would have the strap style filter wrench's.

Good luck if you have a mind set like I do I get super pi$$ed when simple sh1t turns difficult!

I just use a constricter belt type... I stole the one my mom used to use in the kitchen for jars and it worked well.... somehow it never made it back to the kitchen... ;D but she always had a couple anyway ... I still keep one handy today years later

the metal ones are ok too but I've found it hard to find ones that fit smaller filters... on my car I got by wrapping a slightly damp rag around it to take up the slack so when it tightened down it had something to grip on... I've not done it on the SV yet though...

My hubby was helping me and his hand slipped. I thought that stupid filter was going to mean a trip to the emergency room for stitches. If it was my thumb we'd probably have gone anyway.

This should have been a simple 5 minute job. :angry5:

Sears should have a $8 strap wrench like this. I have the same one and it has worked for years. I use a K&N filter on the bike though.

I find nylon slips too much.. this is like the one I use... they are the same as the kitchen ones... only the kitchen ones are somewhat cheaper for some reason... the matierials are the same... in fact the part is the same the only difference is one says motomaster on it and the other says something else..

they probably won't work if the thing is welded on like it seems the the case above... I've never heard of the screwdriver method failing... yikes must have been a juice monkey with a metal wrench putting it on

2 each their own. But with the square stock of steel and a little common sense the nylon strap wrench isn't going anywhere. At least it hasn't for me on Heavy equipment, Cars, Vans, Trucks, and my first filter on my bike when I bought it. They must have put that **** thing on with a 1/2 drive ratchet.:angry1:
