Rode over Guanella Pass (11,000 feet) in Colorado. Rough paved, gravel, dirt road from Interstate 70 Georgetown to Hwy 285 Grant. Beautiful Aspen trees in full fall color, tundra covered with snow from last night, open meadows and running creeks. First ride on my SV on a rough road. Much fun!

Yesterday...I GOT ONE! Went through Deal's Gap with it in the bed of the truck :( but I was still there ;D

Today, I lowered it, changed the exhaust from the Yoshi that was on it to my Leo Vince High mount, took off the full fairings, installed frame sliders and rode it. First time I've rode since the accident.

Pics as soon as I get home to put them up.

Put radiator covers on, and made custom license plate holder on with my hotbodies fender eliminator.

and surprising the **** outta me. ahh my right hand and foot for staying cool

Well,

Last week I changed the brake lines (Galfer SS), pads (Galfer HH) and fluid (Motul). The most useless mod yet. I waited posting this until I put some time on the pads to get them to seat, but they seem to be seated now and I'm not impressed -- I can't really see any improvement over stock. Maybe I'll see an improvement in the canyons, but so far, this is the only mod I regret spending the $$ on.

Did you scrub the rotors to clean them of the "crap" on them from teh stock pads? Also, how did you break in the pads? You "may" have glazed them. Are the brakes fully bleed?

As the upgrade you mentioned is HUGE improvement over the stock set-up.

Badly installed a NEP throttle lock. Its the dual cable model but doesn't fit well between the two cables so I grinded on it till it wouldn't stay in place when I rotated the throttle.

So I tried to lock it in place with an oblong washer under that screw between the throttle cables. Partially stripped out the screw.

Ended with a tie-wrap holding the locker in place, very ugly.

Awaiting more inspiration.:BangHead:

Slid my rear tire on a metal plate by the Manhattan Bridge. Probably back it out a few degrees, hit the pavement and took off. Interesting feeling. Rear tire not really having it today, sliding on all sorts of weird surfaces... felt it step out on acceleration in a slow speed turn, locked it up w/ the rear brake over some stripped pavement, slid on gravel, etc. Going to check my pressures later.

The HH pads should be a significant difference. The rest of the stuff should improve feel a bit.

Got a nice set of Pirelli Diablo's on it and put perhaps 300 miles on them... then sold the bike...
; (

...the upshot is there's a new BMW in my basement...
and the SV's gone just across town to a new fan, but an old friend.

Friend says the bike will still be available to ride when I like, so all is not lost - PLUS!!! the forum gets a new member.

Noticed that after 4753 miles my rear Dunflop tire is starting to show a belt! :angry1:
I guess I'm riding a bit more aggressively then I thought!
Next stop is Conti RA's.
I hate to throw out the front Dunflop, it's like new! Anybody need a front stock tire with 4753 miles on it? :p

I'm also thinking of just getting another Dunflop for the rear and then in another 4753 miles replace both the front and rear with Conti RA's.

If I switch over to Conti RA's I would want to do both front and rear, wouldn't I?

It is recommended that you run the same tire in the front as well as the rear. IMHO, and if I had the money, I would go ahead and replace both and get rid of the ghey Dunlop. But that's my opinion.
