Just thought this would be a cool new topic. If there is already one in existence please let me know so I can delete this one, or a mod can do it. As for me I finished my under tail project and rode the crap out of it.
im sure the threads are fine, just the bolt head strippedSounds like its time to drill it out and use a heli-coil.
Keeping mind I'm all bones and quite tall (6 foot 6), so your mileage may vary. The seat is for sure lower by 3/4 - 1 inch. So I am kicking my knees out a bit more, but that's the only negative, and it's not enough for me to go hunting for Buell pegs or something. I'll deal. This seat 'cups' your rear end better but nothing extreme. It's not sloped so there's no crotch meeting gas tank after a bump or two. You feel more planted in, rather than on, the bike, again but nothing crazy. I'm aware this thing says 200 - 400 mile break in and after my 190m today I'm not even there yet, but I have to say it is wholly worth the money. I stopped after 130 miles to snack and was beginning to feel the old burn, but honestly I think it's a bit more something with me than it is the seat, because I've felt this on my other bikes with or without aftermarket. The aftermarket just dictates WHEN I'm going to be tingling. (Hard to describe the sensation.) Furthermore, as mentioned, the seat wasn't 'broken in' and I was feeling a fair bit more comfortable still the 60 miles home than I do the first 60 miles of my ride. More impressions after a ride tomorrow...Let us know how that Sargent seat works out for you.
I've found that the underwear and pants I'm wearing also dictate my length of comfort...any seams or hems that are in the pressure areas of my rear cause discomfort over time. I've tested this theory and it's definitely true. I now have jeans that I removed the rear pockets from that I used to wear on my long rides...still do sometimes.I stopped after 130 miles to snack and was beginning to feel the old burn, but honestly I think it's a bit more something with me than it is the seat, because I've felt this on my other bikes with or without aftermarket.
A couple guys I work with have BMW touring bikes, and really put the miles on them on the weekends. They swear by the seat beady thingies.^I was wearing my underarmour compression hot weather full under pants. I'm going to try normal boxers and my draggin jeans to see how it turns out, then I might even try my track one piece during the week to see how that works. (Wearing the one piece on the street sucks, aesthetically, though. I feel like Boy George at a Klan rally.)
Second day of riding an no burning sensation what-so-ever, no squirming around, no anything. 165 miles and I only got off to put my rain liner on about 80 miles in and to get gas. All good, can't recommend this seat enough.
We had a member come up from Indiana to our WI/MN rally with one of those bead things on his seat of his 1st gen and said he swore by it!A couple guys I work with have BMW touring bikes, and really put the miles on them on the weekends. They swear by the seat beady thingies.

I've never tried them, so I cannot say they work. You might not want to have them on all the time, but they don't look too hard to install/remove.
Washed and waxed mine for the first time in about six months...
