Put the tank on, gas'd 'er up, went for a short jaunt around the parking lot. Came back, put on rear plastics and seats... now the fuel pump seems to be dead. FML.

So what are the conversion compatabilities with these airboxes? Can I cram an 03 sv1000 air box into an 03 sv650 ???? :confused1:
Here is a piccy of the snorkel difference. Its an easy 1 for 1 swap out.

I have a Suzuki Marauder (became m50) cruiser along with my SV... they really aren't more comfortable anywhere but the wrists..... but on a slow mountain ride without a lot of great twisties... well I'll take the Marauder... otherwise the SV is a far superior ride... I may end up trading in my cruiser for an old school V-Max or something... they are comfortable.. but the g-force on acceleration is fun!.... too bad they have such short range and eat tires.. still though.... I think I would prefer a MAX and a SV... maybe a dual sport too....

I also have a 57 triumph Tiger 110 that my dad gave me if I ever get around to restoring it.... not sure how that would be on a long ride though....

you can never have too many bikes... I'd probably have more if I had a garage and not an underground parking stall in my condo..... some people spend their money on video games or booze or hookers.. whatever... if I had the space I'd be buying all sorts of bikes... even though my winter is usually 9 months of the year

really get one bike for each mood... just keep a beater of a car for those non riding days... I know I'd have a much nicer car if I didn't have a penchant for motorcycles... who needs a $45,000 car and a $10,000 home stereo system if you have 5 bikes in the garage and a beater car for the non bike days? I get much more out of my bikes than I do my car or TV/Stereo system at home...

Got it on the road today and took it to work!

I really need to get a cruiser bike, I must be getting old, my back is killing me lol. What have I done to my bike  haha

Actually I believe the SV1000 and SV650 have exactly the same airbox... I'm not 100% but pretty close... I believe only the snorkle is different... don't get an 03 SV1000 tube though... get one of the newer ones... Suzuki did replace it on later models of the 1000

Yup... I stole that picture too, don't remember where I got it... probably google images but posted it to show people the difference with the newer 1000SV tube and the 650 one.. anyway I did the swap.... it is better than running no snorkel (keeps crap and water out) and smoother throttle response...

I've been running the later SV1000 snorkel since the first month I had my 2006 SV650s... I got it for free from a SV1000 rider... so saved some cash... the SV1000 guys hate em... but us 650 riders do well with it...

There are two versions of this tube though... get the later ones.... I think mine was off a '05 or 2006 SV10000... but forget which it was... the earlier sv1000 tube was crap... it was long and didn't breathe nearly as well as the shorter one.... still it was better than the sv650 one.. but not really much of an impact like the shorter newer SV1000 tube

Works great with my K&N filter and my power commander with my full m4 exhaust system.... I even noticed some better throttle response before I even did the k&n and the m4/power commander so it will work for anyone

The only performance upgrade I have on my bike is a slip-on M4, which isn't much of an improvement in terms of performance but that wasn't the point of it really. Can I assume without other upgrades working systematically such as yours I could expect paltry performance increases? I gotta start somewhere I guess.

Yeah things work better in combination... any one on its own is nothing huge... better than stock.. but not going to give anyone a boner....

but I do have to say just the tube alone gave me a bit more satisfying throttle response ... so for under $20 bucks it is well worth it for me... chat with some of the sv1000 guys, I'm sure some would send you the tube for shipping costs alone.. if not less... (http://www.sv-portal.com/)

sure the tube is not the best thing ever.. but every bit helps and I liked it all by itself on my bike... Kind of like the R6 throttle tube... I liked it on both my 1999 SV650s and my 2006 SV650s... is it the best thing ever... no... but it is still an improvement over stock and costs next to nothing.

actually i've only had to use the UPPER part of the airbox, its a direct fitment pop open the gas tank, unscrew all and switch the airbox u immediately hae a bigger snorkel- air intake...

its def one of these worthwhile, cheaper mods out there to start with, i have a slip on and a bigger sprockets (48t) so overall they all go together nicely :)

i would think i got a lot more MIDrange grunt, lost some top end power:blahblah:

mine was from wal mart auto section. i paid $8.38 + tax. then i took some wires and crimped them together. attached + to battery and - to my ignition coil base. its just zip-tied down nice and tight with high strength black zip-ties.

on opposite side of that frame member i tied them to is another that is at an angle. i routed ties around top/bottom of adjacent, then around bottom/top of opposite frame member. sorry its a bit difficult to explain.
don't be afraid to harness a bit of ingenuity!

Advance auto something similar but WITHOUT a spring-loaded opening.

Having the GPS covering all your gauges somehow doesn't seem like the best idea... Just sayin'.
LOL! I knew someone would say that, and you're right. I just done that for show and tell because it is so HUGE! :sbmfacepalm:
It is actually going to be suctioned on the inside of the windshield and wired to my mirror. ;)

Ah ok, that makes a bit more sense. You wouldn't have been the first to actually mount it there though.

:sbmfacepalm: is right.
